Polyurethane polymers are made from a reaction mixture that contains a polyisocyanate, a hydroxylmethyl-containing fatty acid or ester, and another polyol, polyamine or aminoalcohol. The carboxylic acid or ester group on the hydroxymethyl-containing fatty acid or ester are capable of engaging in a variety of reactions with the polyisocyanate and/or amine or hydroxyl groups present in the reaction mixture. This allows for good quality, high molecular weight polymers to be produced even though the hydroxymethyl-containing fatty acid or ester tends to be a low functionality material.

Polymer polyols and dispersions are prepared by polymerizing certain starting materials in a continuous phase. The continuous phase includes a polyol containing hydroxylmethyl groups, which is derived from a fatty acid. The dispersed phase may be, for example, a vinyl polymer, a polyurea or a polyurethane-urea.

Disclosed is a polyurethane based composition for treating textiles to provide such treated textile with oil, water or oil and water repellency. The composition comprises a polyfunctional liquid polyurethane-containing adduct wherein the adduct contains as a first functional group at least one structo-terminal blocked isocyanate moiety per molecule, and at least one second structo-terminal functional group per molecule which is a perfluoro or siloxane moiety.

Liquid urethane compositions for textile coatings

Disclosed is a urethane-based composition of value in surface coating applications, including treatment of glass or textiles, in adhesives and in the manufacture of a stabilized latex. The composition comprises a polyfunctional liquid urethane-containing adduct wherein said adduct contains as a first functional group at least one isocyanate moiety per molecule, and a second functional group per molecule which is not an isocyanate moiety and which is not reactive towards isocyanate functionality. The second functional group can comprise ester, nitrile, halogen, halocarbon, siloxyl, silyl, alkyne or alkene, or combinations of two or more thereof.

Polyfunctional liquid urethane composition

Disclosed is an acid-funtionalized polyurethane adduct and a process for the preparation of such adduct. The adduct having a linear or preferably branched structure comprises a plurality of internal urethane linkages and one or more terminal carboxylic acid groups per molecule. Such acid-funtionalized polyurethane adducts find value in the manufacture of crosslinked aqueous rubber latexes such as might be used in paint compositions.

Disclosed is a liquid urethane containing adduct; a process for the preparation thereof; and applications therewith. More specifically this invention relates to a stable adduct which is a liquid at room temperature and which contains a plurality of urethane linkages, and yet which is substantially free of any isocyanate functionality or isocyanate-reactive functionality. Such adducts can be used as quenchants, lubricants, or surfactants.
