The present disclosure relates to a catalyst that includes a support that includes a metal oxide and a metal deposited on the support, where the metal oxide includes at least one of TiO, AlO, SiO, CeO, and/or ZrO, the metal includes at least one of Pt, Pd, Ru Rh, Ni, and/or Mo, the metal is in the form of a particle, and the metal is present on the support at a concentration between about 0.1 wt % and about 5.0 wt %.

Materials and methods for improved pyrolysis processing

An aspect of the present disclosure is a method that includes contacting an oxygenated compound and hydrogen (H) with a solid catalyst, where the solid catalyst includes a metal carbide that includes a first transition metal, and the contacting converts at least a portion of the oxygenated compound to a deoxygenated compound. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the metal carbide may include at least one of MoC and/or WC.
