A marking apparatus is provided having a wheel with a plurality of radial slots for receipt of stamps having marking indicia thereon. An internal axially rotatable disc has a cam engageable with the stamp ends causing selected ones to protrude from the wheel periphery. A slot in the disc receives a lateral extension from each stamp for retaining them in retracted position. A segment of the slot adjacent the cam curves radially outward to allow the stamp contacted by the cam to slide outward and protrude from the wheel.

Indexable marking wheel

An adjustable spring latch for doors of coke ovens or the like. The latch includes springs which urge the door into tight engagement with the jamb. The force exerted by the springs can be adjusted by turning a spindle. The latch also includes sight pins which afford a visual indication of the force exerted by the springs.

Adjustable spring latch for coke oven doors or the like

A seal for the offtake piping of a coke oven. The piping includes two communicating parts, such as an ascension pipe and a gooseneck, which move relatively to one another. A seal between these parts prevents escape of gases. The seal includes a trough fixed to one of the parts and receiving the other. The trough contains a body of a non-coking non-flammable liquid, preferably silicone, into which the other part extends. Optionally the trough may also contain a gasket of a closed cell sponge elastomer or a layer of granular material.

Seal for the gas offtake piping of a coke oven

Apparatus is provided for support of a self-sealing door on a horizontal coke oven and for guiding installation of the door on the oven. A single pair of hangers are provided for attachment to the oven adjacent opposite vertical sides of the door opening. At least one axially rotatable member is mounted on the door for engaging the hangers and providing movement of the door therealong in a horizontal direction toward the oven. The axially rotatable member is located in a position on the door so that the door will be suspended in a completely vertical attitude on the hangers and may then be rolled into contact with the frame at repeatable, accurate positions to obtain better sealing.

Coke oven door and support apparatus therefor

A latch mechanism for coke-oven doors, which mechanism includes combination radial thrust bearings for the latch bars. These bearings afford adjustability in all directions for the latch bars to enable force to be applied uniformly to the sealing strips which extend around the perimeter of the door.

A sealing means for a coke oven chuck door. The sealing means includes a metal sealing member which has springiness and flexibility and is supported cantilever fashion on the inside of the door frame. An insulation block is interposed between the sealing member and door frame. The sealing member has a knife edge flange which extends around its perimeter and is automatically aligned with a sealing surface on the main door on which the chuck door is mounted.

Sealing means for a coke oven chuck door

A means for guiding a coke oven door as it is replaced on an oven. The guide means includes bars carried by the door frame for guiding the door accurately to a position in which the sealing members contact a flat surface on the jamb to effect a seal. The forward tips of the guide bars are closely adjacent the forward edges of the sealing members so that the guide bars serve also as stops to prevent overloading of the sealing members.

Guiding means for coke oven doors

A method and apparatus are disclosed for permanently marking a metal workpiece. The apparatus comprises a support for supporting the apparatus in contact with the workpiece. A stamp holding means adapted to receive a predetermined number of stamps engages the support and carries the stamps. The method comprises the steps of engaging the stamp holder with the support. Placing the support on the workpiece. Striking the stamps until the characters are at the desired depth and then removing the stamp holder from the workpiece.
