A cooler access control system locks a cooler when occurrence of an event is detected that requires limiting access to the inside of the cooler. Examples of such events include the loss of power to the cooler for a predetermined period of time, the opening of the cooler door for longer than an allowed time, the loss of functionality of a temperature probe and others. In an embodiment, a service mode is supported wherein the door is left unlocked despite the occurrence of such an event, to allow a stocker or other personnel to leave the cooler door open while stocking the cooler with product.

A cooler and freezer access control system locks a cooler or freezer when occurrence of an event is detected that requires limiting access to the inside of the cooler or freezer. Access control electronics for wireless locks comprise one or more battery operated radios that receive access control codes. The wireless accessed locks locate the electronic components, circuits, sensors and antennas and many of the lock components away from the container being secured and closer to the operator/user. The disclosed access control electronics combine a proximity detection circuit comprising sensor pads and a capacitive sensing circuit and one or more short-range radio frequency antennas for reading RFID devices. The proximity sensor pads are in close proximity with the antennas, without the antennas interfering with the proximity sensing process, and the sensor pads to not attenuate the signals between the RFID devices and the antennas after the RFID devices are detected.

Access control electronics for wireless locks

A lock includes a housing assembly, an actuatable lock assembly and a latching assembly. The actuatable lock assembly is positionable in at least a closed orientation and an open orientation. The latching assembly further includes a latch, a cam and a motor. The latch, having a cam profile, is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the actuatable lock assembly is maintained in the closed orientation. In the unlocked position, the actuatable lock assembly is positionable into an open orientation. The cam is rotatably mounted and has a first follower configured to intermittently coact with the cam profile of the latch, to, in turn, move the latch between the locked position and the unlocked position. The motor is coupled to the cam. Actuation of the motor causes rotation of the cam, resulting in movement of the latch between the locked and unlocked positions.

A lock with a handle assembly and a lock articulating assembly. The handle assembly has a handle member and a lock assembly. The handle member has a central bore and a locking plug groove. The lock assembly has a lock arm with a body positionable within the central bore. The body includes a central bore and a radial bore which is alignable with the locking plug groove. The lock assembly further has an outward locking plug configured to translate along the radial bore and selectively into the locking plug groove. The lock articulating assembly includes a slider (or a second cam), an actuator, a cam coupled to a motor. The cam is selectively engageable with the slider to rotate and/or translate the slider. The actuator is coupled to the slider, so that movement to the slider imparts movement of the actuator.

In accordance with an embodiment, electronic control is provided for the locking function of Lift-Handle and T-Handle products, while maintaining desirable mechanical latching mechanism functions and operations.
