A lighting system or luminaire can comprise two environmentally sealed housings. One of the housings can house one or more light emitting diodes. The other housing can house a driver for supplying electricity to the light emitting diode or diodes. The housings can be nested together. For example, one of the housings can extend partially into a cavity of the other housing. A portion of the cavity can remain unfilled when the housings are nested, to provide an air gap between the two housings. The air gap can be environmentally exposed, for example exposed to moisture when the lighting system is mounted outdoors.

Thermally dissipated lighting system

Present embodiments provide a light fixture having rotatable light modules and an extendable hinged mounting assembly. The light modules are electrically coupled to the light fixture via a cord and a grommet/bracket feature which provides strain relief and a waterproof barrier. The extendable hinged mounting assembly allows the light fixture to be mounted onto a ceiling or other structure while providing a mounted position and an install position.

Hinged mount for a luminaire

A luminaire can comprise two different types of light emitting diodes ('LEDs'), for example a chip-on-board light emitting diode ('LED') and at least one discrete light emitting diode. The luminaire can have a normal mode of operation that utilizes utility power and an emergency mode of operation that utilizes battery power. The luminaire may transition from normal to emergency mode upon loss of the utility power. During normal operation, the luminaire can operate the chip-on-board light emitting diode using utility power. During emergency operation, the luminaire can operate the discrete light emitting diode using battery power, without operating the chip-on-board light emitting diode.
