A recirculating ball power steering system includes an electric motor. The system also includes a ball screw rotatably driven by the electric motor. The system further includes a ball nut translatable along the ball screw in a linear direction during rotation of the ball screw. The system yet further includes a sliding joint in sliding contact with an outer surface of the ball nut, the sliding joint moveable in a non-parallel direction relative to the linear direction of the ball nut.

A power steering assembly includes an electric motor having an output shaft extending therefrom. The assembly also includes a housing containing a worm gear operatively coupled to a steering shaft, the worm gear rotatable about a worm gear axis. The assembly further includes an electric motor and a worm arranged to engage the worm gear, the worm extending from the output shaft of the electric motor as a single, integrally formed shaft, the single, integrally formed shaft extending axially from a first end to a second end and being cantilevered to allow the second end to deflect. The assembly yet further includes a bushing surrounding a portion of the shaft proximate the second end of the shaft, the bushing and the portion of the shaft defining a clearance therebetween.

A power steering assembly includes a first housing containing a worm gear operatively coupled to a steering shaft, the worm gear rotatable about a worm gear axis. The power steering assembly also includes a second housing containing an electric motor and a worm arranged to engage the worm gear. The power steering assembly further includes a worm gear axis bearing disposed between the worm gear and an inner surface of the first housing, the worm gear axis bearing protruding from the second housing to position the first housing relative to the worm gear axis.

A brushless motor assembly includes a housing, a cover assembly, an insert, and a sensor assembly. The housing is disposed about a motor. The cover assembly is disposed on the housing and has a base and a connecting portion. The connecting portion defines a connecting region. The insert has a first insert surface and a second insert surface disposed opposite the first insert surface, each extending between a first insert end and a second insert end. The sensor assembly is disposed on the second insert surface.
