For polling communication devices in a communication system including a host device and communication devices. The host device is connected to the communication devices via a clock line for transmitting a clock signal to the communication devices and via an arbitration line implemented with 'OR' logic for receiving arbitration signal transmitted by the communication devices. Each communication device is configured to pull up or down the arbitration line for sending an arbitration signal when the communication device is ready to send data to the host device. Each communication device is configured to pull down the arbitration line for sending an arbitration signal when the communication device has no data to send to the host device. The host device (HD) is able to: send a clock signal on the clock line during an arbitration cycle, causing the communication devices to send respective arbitration signals towards the arbitration line, during the arbitration cycle, receive a final signal corresponding to an addition of the arbitration signals, during the arbitration cycle, resulting from the “OR” logic applied to the arbitration signals, detect the communication devices ready to send data based on the “1” bit of the final signal, select, among the detected communication devices, the communication device associated with the highest priority in a priority table containing the priorities associated with the communication devices, and poll the selected communication device to receive data from the selected communication device during a communication cycle.

Method and system for polling communication devices in an industrial network system

A wireless transmitter for coupling to an actuation device and a method of producing a wireless transmitter are provided. The transmitter comprises a transmitter housing having a first top surface; a translational member located at the first top surface of the transmitter housing; a cam member located within the transmitter housing, the cam member arranged for rotation about a fixed point of the cam member, the cam member comprising a contact component for contacting the translational member, the cam member further comprising a member body extending between the contact component and the fixed point of the cam member; a power generator located within the transmitter housing for generating power to operate the transmitter; wherein the translational member is arranged to translate towards the cam member and to contact the contact component of the cam member on application of a mechanical force; and wherein the cam member is arranged to rotate about the fixed point such that the contact component is capable of rotating towards the power generator to activate the power generator, the rotating being upon contact of the translational member with the contact component of the cam member.

Wireless transmitter

A method for configuring slave devices in a communication system including a master device and slave devices, wherein the master device and the slave devices are connected in chain via a commission line and in parallel via a field bus line, and wherein each slave device is indexed by an index greater than or equal to 1, the slave device of indexbeing connected to the master device. To enroll the slave device of index k, k being equal to or greater than 1, the master device is able to: send, in broadcast via the field bus line, an address configuration frame containing instructions for address configuration with a defined address of index k for the slave device of index k; send, in broadcast via the field bus line, a request for device information, the request containing the defined address; send, in broadcast via the field bus line after having received a reply containing device information and the defined address, a command for sending a commissioning signal via the commission line to the slave device of index k+1, the command containing the defined address; and store the received device information in an information table, the device information containing an identifier of the slave device of index k and a type of the slave device of index k, wherein the slave devices have a common default address before being enrolled and only a slave device of index k, which has the common default address and detects a commissioning signal on the commission line, accepts the address configuration frame to change the common default address of the slave device of index k to the defined address.

Configuration of slave devices in an industrial network system

A switching device includes: a housing; a moveable element, including a header and first and second magnets, slidable in the housing, the moveable element moveable between released and engaged positions; and a microcontroller and first and second magnetic sensing elements facing the first and second magnets. The first and second magnetic sensing elements detect respectively first and second magnetic fields generated respectively by the first and second magnets. A pole configuration of the first magnet is opposed to a pole configuration of the second magnet and the first magnetic field is reversed and equal in magnitude to the second magnetic field. The microcontroller is able to validate that first and second output signals produced by the first and second magnetic sensing elements, respectively, from the first and second magnetic fields are reliable for determining a position of the moveable element.
