In at least some embodiments, an electrical system for a pump includes a power supply and a controller coupled to the power supply, the controller supporting a plurality of pump cycle levels. If a voltage of the power supply drops below a first threshold, the controller automatically causes the pump to operate at a lower pump cycle level.

In at least some embodiments, a pump includes a turning member and a reciprocating member coupled to the turning member, the reciprocating member performing a pumping motion as the turning member turns. The pump also includes at least one stabilization component in contact with the reciprocating member to stabilize the pumping motion.

A self-verifying temperature sensor and method for measuring and verifying the true thermodynamic temperature of a system. The sensor is constructed of various combinations of the following temperature-dependent elements: thermoelements, resistive elements, capacitive elements and other inductive elements. In the preferred embodiment, the sensor is constructed of resistive element connected between four thermoelement wires. A fifth thermoelement wire is connected to the resistive element. The sensor produces a data signature from various voltage, resistance, inductance, and capacitance measurements. Measurement electronics collect and condition the data signature. A computer analyzes the data signature and provides the system operator with a verified sensor temperature, thus, allowing the system operator to recognize and account for drift or decalibration of the sensor. The self-verifying temperature sensor can also be recalibrated insitu, thereby eliminating the necessity of sensor removal to verify recalibration.

A circuit protection device for use with an electrical unit comprises driver circuitry connected to the electrical unit and connecting means electrically connecting the device to the electrical unit to provide a voltage signal indicative of a voltage associated with the electrical unit. A voltage detector is connected to the connecting means and receives the voltage signal, and provides a conditioned voltage signal output representative of the voltage signal. An analog-to-digital converter receives the conditioned voltage signal output and converts the conditioned voltage signal output to a digital value. A digital processing device receives the digital value from the analog-to-digital converter and provides an output signal to the driver circuitry to turn off power to the primary if an error is detected. The device may also include current obtaining means for providing an electrical signal indicative of a current associated with the electrical unit, and a current detector circuit connected to and receiving that electrical signal for providing an output voltage signal representative thereof. Multiplexing means may be provided for receiving the output signals from both the voltage detector and the current detector for selectively connecting only one of those signals at a time to the analog-to-digital converter. Alternatively, a second analog-to-digital converter may receive the second output voltage signal and convert it to a digital value, and the digital processing device may receive and process the digital values from both analog-to-digital converters.
