Some methods involve receiving, by a control system configured for implementing a plurality of Tenderers, audio data and listening configuration data for a plurality of listening configurations, each listening configuration of the plurality of listening configurations corresponding to a listening position and a listening orientation in an audio environment, and rendering, by each Tenderer and according to the listening configuration data, the received audio data to obtain a set of Tenderer-specific loudspeaker feed signals for a corresponding listening configuration. Each Tenderer may be configured to render the audio data for a different listening configuration. Some such methods may involve decomposing each set of renderer-specific loudspeaker feed signals into a Tenderer-specific set of frequency bands and combining the renderer-specific frequency bands of each Tenderer to produce an output set of loudspeaker feed signals. Some such methods may involve outputting the output set of loudspeaker feed signals to a plurality of loudspeakers.

Frequency domain multiplexing of spatial audio for multiple listener sweet spots

Systems and methods for providing a binaural virtualization by upmixing the left and right input signals to produce left, right, and center channels, mixing the left and right input signals with the upmixed left and right channels respectively at a proportion given by a center-only reverb amount value, then reverberating the output of the mixing prior to virtualization. This can be further simplified by mode switching between two different filtering modes: a standard mode and a simplified mode.

Virtualizer for binaural audio

A method of audio processing includes performing spatial analysis on a binaural signal to estimate level differences and phase differences characteristic of a binaural filter of the binaural signal, performing object extraction on the binaural audio signal using the estimated level and phase differences to generate a left/right main component signal and a left/right residual component signal. The system may process the left/right main and left/right residual components differently using different object processing parameters for e.g. repositioning, equalization, compression, upmixing, channel remapping or storage to generate a processed binaural signal that provides an improved listening experience. Repositioning may be based on head tracking sensor data.

Binaural signal post-processing

Some methods may involve receiving a first content stream that includes first audio signals, rendering the first audio signals to produce first audio playback signals, generating first calibration signals, generating first modified audio playback signals by inserting the first calibration signals into the first audio playback signals, and causing a loudspeaker system to play back the first modified audio playback signals, to generate first audio device playback sound. The method(s) may involve receiving microphone signals corresponding to at least the first audio device playback sound and to second through Nth audio device playback sound corresponding to second through Nth modified audio playback signals (including second through Nth calibration signals) played back by second through Nth audio devices, extracting second through Nth calibration signals from the microphone signals and estimating at least one acoustic scene metric based, at least partly, on the second through Nth calibration signals.

An apparatus and method of rendering audio. A binaural signal is split on an amplitude weighting basis into a front binaural signal and a rear binaural signal, based on perceived position information of the audio. In this manner, the front-back differentiation of the binaural signal is improved.

Rendering binaural audio over multiple near field transducers

A system for using an audio watermark to avoid double processing. The decoder inserts the audio watermark during a transient in the audio signal. This avoids the drawbacks of using out-of-band control signals or metadata. The decoder performs detecting a transient in a first audio signal, transforming a portion related to the transient into the frequency domain to compare a first band of the frequency domain data and a second band of the frequency domain data, when the first band is uncorrelated with the second band, the decoder performs processing on the first audio data to generate a second audio data, when the first band is correlated, the first audio data is used as the second audio data without performing any processing.

A system and method of modifying a binaural signal using headtracking information. The system calculates a delay, a first filter response, and a second filter response, and applies these to the left and right components of the binaural signal according to the headtracking information. The system may also apply headtracking to parametric binaural signals. In this manner, headtracking may be applied to pre-rendered binaural audio.

Media input audio data corresponding to a media stream and microphone input audio data from at least one microphone may be received. A first level of at least one of a plurality of frequency bands of the media input audio data, as well as a second level of at least one of a plurality of frequency bands of the microphone input audio data, may be determined. Media output audio data and microphone output audio data may be produced by adjusting levels of one or more of the first and second plurality of frequency bands based on the perceived loudness of the microphone input audio data, of the microphone output audio data, of the media output audio data and the media input audio data. One or more processes may be modified upon receipt of a mode-switching indication.

Embodiments are described for a method of rendering audio for playback through headphones comprising receiving digital audio content, receiving binaural rendering metadata generated by an authoring tool processing the received digital audio content, receiving playback metadata generated by a playback device, and combining the binaural rendering metadata and playback metadata to optimize playback of the digital audio content through the headphones.

Embodiments for a speaker system that produces a near-field sound pattern for rendering immersive audio content in a portable device. An array of drivers projects sound upwards from a top surface of the portable device to form upward-firing speakers; a set of speakers projects sound downwards from a bottom surface of the portable device to form downward-firing speakers. A decoder/renderer component receives immersive audio content, decodes height audio signals from the content and sends direct audio signals to the downward-firing speakers. A crossover performs a high-pass filter function to pass high frequency components of the decoded height audio signals to the upward-firing speakers and low frequency components of the decoded height audio signals to the downward-firing speakers.

Near-field rendering of immersive audio content in portable computers and devices

An audio processing method may involve receiving media input audio data corresponding to a media stream and headphone microphone input audio data, determining a media audio gain for at least one of a plurality of frequency bands of the media input audio data and determining a headphone microphone audio gain for at least one of a plurality of frequency bands of the headphone microphone input audio data. Determining the headphone microphone audio gain may involve determining a feedback risk control value, for at least one of the plurality of frequency bands, corresponding to a risk of headphone feedback between at least one external microphone of a headphone microphone system and at least one headphone speaker and determining a headphone microphone audio gain that will mitigate actual or potential headphone feedback in at least one of the plurality of frequency bands, based at least partly upon the feedback risk control value.
