The present invention is a wet-shaving unit and a process for making same by injection molding. The present invention is adaptable for addition to conventional razor blade manufacturing methods and existing manufacturing apparatus and facilities. Moreover, the present process results in a product which significantly reduces or eliminates entirely undesirable blade distortion and vibration.

Process for insert molding wet-shaving razor unit

According to this invention, a disposable razor or razor cartridge is formed by molding, as a single unit, a blade covering means and blade support means by supporting the blade by a trident-shaped supporting member butting the blade with the tips of the support member to coincide with an opening formed during molding on either side of the blade support means and a centrally positioned sleeve having an opening adjacent to the blade.

Process for insert molding disposable razor

According to this invention a disposable, moldable plastic razor is made by a single multi stage molding process. This is accomplished by molding a blade support around a single narrow blade and using the combination of blade support and blade as the basis for subsequently molding the other moldable plastic razor elements. In another aspect of this invention, a subassembly comprising blade support and blade is provided having certain defined spatial characteristics which provides the first 'building block' for the assembled disposable razor.
