A coupler for a balanced two wire data transmission line includes input and output ports as well as a forward coupled port and a reflected coupled port. The coupler is constructed of passive components including transformers and resistors to provide at the forward coupled port a signal proportional to the signal transmitted from a source to a load and provide at the reflected coupled port a signal proportional to the magnitude of the signal reflected from the load due to mismatch.

An R.F. impedance match control system. The reflection coefficient of the system is compared to a threshold to determine a mismatch condition which is corrected by selectively changing in incremental steps the turns ratio of an autotransformer provided at the input to the load until the mismatch condition is corrected. Timing means are provided to delay each mismatch correction until initial transient conditions are stabilized and to shut off R.F. power during each turns ratio change.

R.F. impedance match control system

An R.F. generator for providing power to a load via a transmission line wherein load impedance is automatically matched to the surge impedance of the transmission to provide maximum transfer of energy from the generator to the load. Voltages representative of input power and reflected power are utilized to control a load match circuit to cause load impedance to equal transmission line impedance. Feedback loop means are also provided to maintain net load power at an externally commanded level.

Automatic impedance matching between source and load

Fiber optic signals of the unipolar Manchester type undergo translation by a logic circuit system to a bipolar type. The system is capable of differentiating between the occurrence of a message gap and valid data or synchronization signals.
