A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a separator, and a second electrode, a case for accommodating the electrode assembly, and defining an opening at a side of the case for receiving the electrode assembly, a cap assembly mounted to the case at the opening of the case, and including a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal respectively electrically connected to the first electrode and the second electrode, and a protective member for covering the case and the cap assembly, and including a first bonding portion corresponding to a bottom surface of the case, a plurality of second bonding portions respectively corresponding to first lateral walls of the case, and a plurality of finish portions respectively overlapping opposite ends of the second bonding portions.

Rechargeable battery

A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a separator, and a second electrode; a case accommodating the electrode assembly and having an opening at a side thereof for receiving the electrode assembly; a cap assembly coupled to the case at the opening; a first insulation member surrounding the case, an extending portion of the first insulation member extending above the cap assembly; and a second insulation member on the cap assembly and contacting the portion of the first insulation member extending above the cap assembly, the second insulation member being a coated layer.

A battery module according to the present invention includes rechargeable batteries that include a first terminal and a second terminal which protrude outward, the first terminal including differentiation portions formed of an indentation or a protruding portion to differentiate the first terminal from the second terminal; and connection members that electrically connect the rechargeable batteries, fixed to the first and second terminals of adjacent rechargeable batteries, including verification portions which fit the differentiation portions so as to improve assemblability and minimize contact resistance.

A secondary battery includes a case configured to accommodate an electrode assembly, a safety vent on a first side of the case, and a film unit disposed on the first side of the case, the film unit including a first film unit covering at least a part of the safety vent, the first film unit including a break unit, and a second film unit extending from the first film unit, the second film unit being adhered to the case.

A rechargeable battery includes a plurality of electrode assemblies each having a first planar surface and a second planar surface substantially opposite to the first planar surface; a case housing the electrode assemblies; and a safety member having a first side plate that contacts the first planar surface of a first electrode assembly of the plurality of electrode assemblies, wherein the first electrode assembly is located at a periphery of the electrode assemblies, a second side plate that contacts the second planar surface of the first electrode assembly, and a connector electrically connecting the first side plate and the second side plate to each other, wherein the safety member is electrically coupled to the first electrode.

The cap assembly includes a first tab electrically connected to the first electrode, a second tab electrically connected to the second electrode, an deformable plate capable of electrically connecting the first tab and the second tab by being deformed due to a pressure increase, and an intermediate member formed between the first tab and the deformable plate.

A battery module includes a plurality of unit batteries, each including a positive terminal and a negative terminal which protrude outside of each unit battery and which have bent terminal portions, and a connection member which electrically connects the unit batteries with each other and which includes a fixing plate fixed to the bent terminal portions of adjacent unit batteries by welding so as to improve productivity and provide high stability.

A rechargeable battery according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an electrode assembly, a case, electrode terminals, a cap plate, and current collecting plates. The electrode assembly includes a first electrode, a separator, and a second electrode. The case contains the electrode assembly. The electrode terminals are electrically connected to respective electrodes. The current collecting plates have support protrusions inserted into an interior of the electrode assembly, and welding protrusions welded to lateral ends of the electrode assembly.
