A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel including a plurality of data lines to which a data voltage is supplied, a plurality of gate lines to which a gate pulse is supplied, and a plurality of liquid crystal cells, a data drive circuit to invert a polarity of the data voltage in response to a polarity control signal and to output the data voltage to the data lines in response to a source output enable signal, a gate drive circuit to supply the gate pulse to the gate lines, and a POL/SOE logic circuit to invert the polarity control signal for every frame period except at Nth-multiple frame period (where N is a positive integer), wherein the POL/SOE logic circuit controls the polarity control signal at every Nth-multiple frame period such that the polarity of the data voltage is the same as the previous frame period and controls a pulse width of the source output enable signal at every Nth-multiple frame period to be longer than for the other frame periods.

Liquid crystal display and driving method thereof

A disclosed display includes a display panel including a first group of data lines and second group of data lines, a plurality of gate lines crossing the first and a second groups of data lines, and a plurality of picture cells arranged in a matrix. The display also includes a first source PCB coupled to first data integrated circuits (ICs) to supply first data voltages to the first group of data lines and a second source PCB coupled to second data ICs to supply second data voltages to the second group of data lines. The display further includes a timing controller having a single output port with a plurality of output pins which are configured to output video data to both the first and second data ICs, and to output a timing control signal to control both the first and second data ICs. In addition, the display includes a first connection cable coupling the single output port of the timing controller to at least one of the first and second source PCBs to transmit the video data and the timing control signal from the timing controller to the at least one of the first and second source PCBs. The first data ICs and second data ICs are configured to generate the first and second data voltages, respectively, based on the video data and the timing control signal.

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device having a simplified printed circuit board (PCB) is disclosed. The LCD device includes a first integrated circuit (IC) group operating in accordance with timing control signals to convert digital video data into data voltage and to supply the data voltage to a first data line group, and a second IC group receiving the timing control signals and the digital video data via a first source PCB and LOG wirings and operating in accordance with the timing control signals to convert the digital video data into the data voltage and to supply the data voltage to a second data line group Each IC of the first and second IC groups includes a polarity control signal (POL) generator for generating a polarity control signal to control a polarity of the data voltage, using a part of the timing control signals.

Liquid crystal display device having a single source printed circuit board

In one embodiment, a driving method for a liquid crystal display device having a backlight is provided. Input digital video data is analyzed and an adaptive brightness control signal is generated based on a brightness analysis of the input digital video data. An external brightness control signal is received via a user interface. A plurality of brightness control voltages is generated based on the adaptive brightness control signal. The plurality of brightness control voltages represents different brightness levels. One of the brightness control voltages is selected in response to the external brightness control signal. The backlight operates according to the selected brightness control voltage.

An inverter of a liquid crystal display for receiving a power voltage for burst dimming via one power terminal to simultaneously adjust a burst dimming and an analog dimming is disclosed. In the inverter of the liquid crystal display, a burst dimming signal generator receives a triangular-wave signal and a power voltage for burst dimming to generate a burst dimming signal. An analog dimming voltage generator receives the power voltage for burst dimming to generate an analog dimming voltage. And a main controller receives the burst dimming signal and the analog dimming voltage to generate a pulse width modulating signal which is used for generating a driving current of a backlight assembly.

Backlight driving apparatus of LCD and driving method thereof

Disclosed are a backlight unit capable of determining a deviated degree of a lamp grip by a guide line formed adjacent to the lamp grip a PCB that connects an electrode thereof with a lamp electrode, and a manufacturing method for the same. The manufacturing method includes preparing a case structure, a plurality of lamps equipped with an electrode at both ends, and fastening units corresponded to the electrodes of the lamps, preparing a PCB constituted by a base substrate and a signal line formed on the base substrate, and defined with positions thereon for forming the fastening units having electric connection parts with respect to the signal line, and positioning the PCB in the case structure, forming a solder layer at the electric connection parts on the PCB by applying a soldering material using a solder mask, and forming a guide pattern at both sides of the fastening unit, connecting the fastening units with the solder layers while using the guide patterns as marks, and connecting the lamps to the fastening units.

Backlight unit and method for manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display for supplying a discharge voltage for preventing a delay to reduce a delay of a scanning pulse, and a driving method thereof are disclosed. In the liquid crystal display, a liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of gate lines. A timing controller supplies a gate output enable signal which controls a supply of a scanning pulse. A discharging part generates a discharge voltage in response to the gate output enable signal. And a gate driver supplies the discharge voltage together with a scanning pulse to the gate lines in response to the gate output enable signal.
