A method for determining a coverage area according to antenna patterns in a sector base station system provided that the antenna gain of the omni base station is identical to the antenna gain of the sector base station. The method includes the steps of calculating the ratio of the coverage area of the sector base station to the omni base station, calculating the coverage area of the omni base station considering a handover area, and multiplying the calculated ratio of coverage area of the sector base station by the calculated coverage area of the omni base station, to determine the number of base stations required in designing the wireless network by the operator.

Method for calculating the coverage area according to the antenna patterns in a sector base station

A method is disclosed for calculating the optimal number of base transceiver stations (BTSs) in a wireless network and for determining a loading factor value therefor. The wireless network has a plurality of BTSs, each station providing communication service to mobile stations. As a loading factor value increases, the traffic decreases and the coverage area increases. The method calculates the number of BTSs in accordance with a decrease in traffic and the number of BTSs in accordance with an increase in the coverage area; determines a loading factor value which minimizes a difference between the two number of BTSs; and determines the optimal number of BTSs according to the determined loading factor value.

Method for calculating an optimal number of BTSs in a wireless network and determining a loading factor value therefor

A method for determining the number of effective channels and the effective channel rate in a CDMA network is disclosed. The method calculates the ratio of the soft handoff area to the total service area and the soft handoff channel rate. The results are used to determine both the number of effective channels and the effective channel rate.
