A cooking appliance includes a cabinet that defines a cooking chamber. A magnetron is mounted within the cabinet and is in communication with the cooking chamber to direct a microwave thereto. An induction heating coil is mounted within the cabinet and is in communication with the cooking chamber to direct a magnetic field thereto. A turntable is rotatably mounted in the cooking chamber above the induction heating coil. A motor is operatively coupled to the turntable and is mounted within the cabinet outside of the cooking chamber below and adjacent to the induction heating coil. The motor is operatively coupled to the turntable by a non-magnetic rotation hub extending through the induction heating coil.

Turntable system for hybrid cooking appliance with microwave and induction heating features

A cooking appliance includes a cabinet that defines a vertical direction and an inner shell positioned within the cabinet. The inner shell defines a cooking chamber therein. The cooking appliance also includes an upper heating module positioned at or proximate to an upper wall of the inner shell. The cooking appliance further includes a movable platform mounted to the inner shell within the cabinet. The movable platform is configured to move along the vertical direction between a bottom position wherein the movable platform is at least partially flush with a bottom wall of the inner shell and an elevated position wherein the movable platform is positioned above the bottom wall of the inner shell.

Cooking menu communication and methods of operating a cooking appliance

A cooking appliance, as provided herein, may include a cabinet, a magnetron, an induction heating coil, and a one-way field filter. The cabinet may define a cooking chamber. The magnetron may be mounted within the cabinet in communication with the cooking chamber to direct a microwave thereto. The induction heating coil may be mounted within the cabinet to direct a magnetic field thereto. The one-way field filter may be disposed within the cabinet between the induction heating coil and the cooking chamber to restrict passage of the microwave therethrough while permitting the magnetic field. The one-way filter may include a lower layer and an upper layer. The lower layer may include a plurality of parallel conductive bands extending in a first direction. The upper layer may be disposed above the lower layer. The upper layer may include a plurality of parallel conductive bands extending in the second direction.

Hybrid cooking appliance with microwave and induction heating features

A microwave oven includes a cabinet that defines a cooking chamber and a steam generator within the cooking chamber. The steam generator includes a disk-shaped main body with a water storage volume internal to the main body. The steam generator also includes a connector in operative communication with a motor of the microwave oven. The motor is operable to rotate the disk-shaped main body during a cooking operation of the microwave oven. The steam generator also includes a plurality of vents positioned above the water storage volume. The vents direct steam from the water storage volume into the cooking chamber of the microwave oven appliance during the cooking operation of the microwave oven appliance.
