Methods and systems are provided for firearm muzzle brakes. In one example, a muzzle brake comprises: a body; a projectile entrance and a projectile exit; a gas-actuated valve biased toward the projectile entrance within an interior of the body; and a projectile opening of the gas-actuated valve arranged along a projectile path between the projectile entrance and the projectile exit.

Methods and systems are provided for a firearms suppressor adapted with blowout panels. In one example, the blowout panels may be configured to have a lower tolerance for pressure than the materials from which outer components of the suppressor are formed. During over pressure events of the suppressor, the blowout panels may rupture, thereby dissipating pressure in the suppressor.

Methods and systems are provided for firearm sound suppressors including a gas deflector. In one example, a suppressor comprises a housing, a projectile entrance, a projectile exit, one or more baffles, and a deflector chamber. The deflector extending outward from the housing and the deflector curving around a central axis of the suppressor.

In one example, a sound suppressor comprises a unitary single-piece body configured with centrally aligned baffle chambers circumferentially surrounded by exhaust gas chambers.

Methods and systems are provided for a sound suppressor adapted to be coupled to a firearm and including one or more inserts positioned within a body of the suppressor. In one embodiment, a sound suppressor comprises a unitary single-piece body, where an insert is positioned within the body and encapsulated by the body, the body and the insert forming one or more chambers, where the body and insert are bonded to one another via only interfacing surfaces of the body and insert. In this way, a more robust suppressor is constructed that is not vulnerable to the attrition that arises when using replaceable inserts bonded to the suppressor housing via welding.

A suppressor for a firearm includes a first gas expansion section of relatively large size sufficient to reduce the temperature and pressure of the gas expelled from a muzzle during discharge of the firearm to a level that avoids rapid degrading of structural members such as baffles in the suppressor that are downstream of the muzzle. The gas is channeled through multiple paths to distribute its energy more equally. Preferably, the suppressor is formed with a lightweight, thermally-conductive composite portion. The composite portion provides lightweight, bursting strength with good thermal conductivity and little contribution to vibrational instability of the muzzle to which it is attached. The composite portion may be of a carbon fiber, silicon, boron, or metallic base. In one embodiment, a first expansion chamber is in communication with the muzzle and with a second expansion chamber and in another embodiment, the first expansion chamber communicates with the muzzle and with the second expansion chamber The composite portions of the suppressor provide good bursting strength and heat conductivity with light weight. In some embodiments, a series of baffles creates turbulence in the gas, slowing its motion and distributing the energy more evenly over space.
