Systems and methods for installing a motorized window shade assembly on an aircraft window panel having fastener receiving elements and an electrical access port. A receptacle frame includes a front face bounded by side walls defining a volume for receiving the window shade assembly. The frame further includes a rear face having window panel fasteners adapted to engage with the fastener receiving elements of the aircraft window panel and adapted to secure the receptacle frame to the aircraft window panel. The frame further includes window shade assembly fasteners positioned on at least a first pair of the side walls and adapted to secure the window shade assembly within the volume for receiving the window shade assembly.

Technique to facilitate installation of motorized window shade mechanism in aircraft

An assembly for an aircraft cabin of an aircraft, the aircraft having a fuselage with a plurality of external windows arranged at a pitch. The assembly having a window cone panel with an internal window, top and bottom edges defining a panel height, and side edges defining a panel width. First and second terminator components are disposed on either side of the window cone panel such that the first terminator component is on one side of the window cone panel and the second terminator component is on the other side of the window cone panel. A splice component is disposed on either side of the window cone panel between the window cone panel and one of the first and second terminator components. The splice component includes an index for adjusting an overall width of the assembly to align the internal window opening with the external window pitch.

Modular indexing for aircraft interior

A manually operated override release mechanism for use with a motorized window shade assembly having a shade fabric with a leading edge, the shade fabric being disposed behind a pane and movable between an opened position and a closed position upon operation of a motor. The override release mechanism has an actuator movable between a first position and a second position and biased in the first position. The actuator has a first side secured to one end of a cable, and a second side. The other end of the cable is connected to the motor.

Emergency override release mechanism for motorized window shade assembly

A motorized mechanism for actuating motion within a housing of a window shade arrangement having first and second window shades for controlling the amount of light admitted through a window. The motorized mechanism comprises a first rail assembly movable in the housing and connected to a first end of the first window shade and a first end of the second window shade, a second rail assembly movable in the housing and connected to a second end of the second window shade, a second end of the first window shade being fixed to the housing, said first and second window shades being adapted to be extended and compressed relative to the window in accordance with motion within the housing of at least one of said first and second rail assemblies. A first cable is looped between a motor-driven first pulley and a second pulley along a first path. A second cable is looped between a motor-driven third pulley and a fourth pulley along a second path. Corresponding ends at one side of said first and second rail assemblies are in said first path, with only one of said first and second rail assemblies being connected to the first cable, and corresponding ends at the other side of said first and second rail assemblies being in said second path, with only the other one of said first and second rail assemblies being connected to the second cable.

Window assembly with a motorized window shade mechanism

A window assembly that includes a motorized window shade mechanism. The window assembly includes two reversible motors that are disposed in, and at the top of, the window assembly. The window assembly further includes an opaque shade and a translucent shade. Each shade is independently raised and lowered with the motors by a separate gear and belt system positioned at the sidewalls of the window assembly, which are coupled to each other by rotatable shafts journalled into the bottom of the window. Each gear and belt system is driven by one of the reversible motors.

Motorized window shade

A motorized window shade assembly for operating a window shade having a rail attached to one end of the shade to extend and compress the shade with movement of the rail. The motorized window shade assembly includes a shell having two sidewalls, and a rail extending between the two sidewalls of the shell. The sidewalls have respective opposed inner surfaces with a channel therein, shoulders adjacent and perpendicular to the inner surfaces, respectively, and a traction surface on each of the shoulders. An axle is rotatingly coupled to the rail and has a traction wheel coupled to each end thereof. Opposite tips of the axle ride within the channels in the sidewalls, and the traction wheels engage the traction surface. A motor is attached to the rail and is drivingly coupled to the axle.
