Ripper shank pocket with wear inserts

A ripper assembly is disclosed. The ripper assembly may include a ripper cross-member defining at least a first ripper shank pocket. The ripper cross member may include a front wall, a rear wall, a first side wall and a second side wall. The front wall may connect to the rear wall, to define a perimeter of the at least first ripper shank pocket, the front wall, the rear wall, the first side wall, and the second side wall, and to also define a longitudinal axis and a free end disposed along the longitudinal axis adjacent the perimeter of the at least first ripper shank pocket. At least one of the front wall, the rear wall, the first side wall and the second side wall may define a retention boss aperture and a retention mechanism pocket in communication with the retention boss aperture.

A retrieval arrangement for a ripper of a machine includes a bollard that is disposed towards a rear portion of the machine. The bollard includes a base that is disposed along a mid-plane of the ripper and connected to the ripper via a ripper carriage. A method for retrieving the ripper includes positioning a sling around the bollard, and pulling the sling using another machine such that the bollard is biased in the direction away from the ripper carriage.

A ripper assembly for a machine includes a primary carriage, a secondary carriage pivotally coupled to the primary carriage. The primary carriage is formed from a winged support structure having a pair of opposing sides and a pair of pivot arms welded onto corresponding opposing sides of the winged support structure. The secondary carriage includes a mid-portion and a pair of intermediary portions welded to ends of the mid-portion to form a single ripper mounting assembly. Additionally, or optionally, the secondary carriage could include a pair of end portions that could be welded onto distal ends of the intermediary portions for forming the ripper assembly to a multiple ripper mounting configuration.

A method for positioning and installing a column product includes coupling a template to a first side and a second side of an opening, using the template to position a depth gauge to the first side and the second side of the opening, selecting at least one shim from a plurality of thickness regions comprising a first thickness of 0.050 inches, a second thickness of 0.10 inches, a third thickness of 0.15 inches, a forth thickness of 0.20 inches, and a fifth thickness of 0.25 inches, using the template to position the plurality of shims to the first side and the second side of the opening, positioning the column product into the opening, and attaching one or more fasteners to the column product and coupling the column product to the first side and the second side of the opening.
