Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that include a plurality of absorbable filaments arranged in a support structure and configured degrade within a defined time period and a membrane arranged about the plurality of absorbable filaments and configured to contain fragments of the plurality of absorbable filaments in response to a fracture or degradation of a filament.

Bioabsorbable medical devices

Bioabsorbable self-expanding medical devices formed of an integral framework with a multiplicity of fenestrations are provided. The framework is continuous, non-filamentous, non-braided, and non-interlaced. The devices includes a non-blended hydrolysable co-polymeric material comprising an amorphous component with a glass transition temperature that is below ambient body temperature and a crystallizable component that possesses a crystalline melting point in excess of ambient body temperature. The devices radially expand from a compressed first diameter to an uncompressed second diameter equal to or greater than 1.5 times the first diameter within two minutes in an aqueous medium at 37&#xb0; C. following release of a compressive force placed on the devices. Additionally, the medical device does not change axial length significantly as the radial dimensions of the devices are changed. Further, the medical devices may be constructed of different bioabsorbable polymers, polymer ratios, and/or different geometries and portions may bioabsorb at different rates.

Bioabsorbable self-expanding endolumenal devices

The present invention is directed to implantable bioabsorbable non-woven self-cohered web materials having a high degree of porosity. The web materials are very supple and soft, while exhibiting proportionally increased mechanical strength in one or more directions. The web materials often possess a high degree of loft. The web materials can be formed into a variety of shapes and forms suitable for use as implantable medical devices or components thereof.

Composite self-cohered web materials

A web of continuous filaments which are made of at least one semi-crystalline polymeric component covalently bonded as a linear block copolymer with or blended with one or more semi-crystalline or amorphous polymeric components. The filaments are intermingled together to form a porous web of filaments, the filaments having multiple contact points with each other within the web. The filaments are bonded at the contact points without requisite for added adhesive binders, adjuncts or post extrusion melt processing. The web may be bioresorbable. The web may also be provided in forms with relatively high cohesive shear strength. The polymeric components of the filaments exist, at least temporarily, in a homogenous substantially phase miscible uncrystallized state. If preserved in the homogenous substantially phase miscible uncrystallized state, the object can then be manipulated into a distinct desirable molded shape and then subsequently set or crystallized to retain the desired form particularly suitable for a specific use or application.

Self-cohering, continuous filament non-woven webs

An implantable bioabsorbable article for the separation and regeneration of tissue at a tissue defect site in the form of a fibrous matrix laminarly affixed to both surfaces of a cell-barrier sheet material. When implanted it allows ingrowth of tissue into the fibrous matrix side of the material; simultaneously the tissue to be regenerated at the tissue defect site is separated from the ingrowing tissue by the cell-barrier sheet material. A method for making the implantable bioabsorbable article is also described.
