Apparatus for forming a 3D object from powder, comprising: a) delivery means adapted to emit a flow of powder at sufficiently high velocity to enable it to form the 3D object; b) positioning means adapted adjust the position of the delivery means; and c) control means adapted to control: i) movement of the positioning means; and ii) the velocity of the flow of powder.

Apparatus and a method for forming 3D objects

An apparatus for producing a three-dimensional object by spray deposition including a powder conveyance line A arranged to channel a flow of spray material entrained in a carrier gas to a nozzle (a first flow). The apparatus also has a process line B arranged to channel a flow of gas to the nozzle (a second flow). The apparatus also has a spray nozzle. The apparatus is such that pressure and temperature parameters of the first flow are controlled in real time, but for the second flow these parameters are not controlled in real time. The two flows merge to cause spray material to be propelled from the nozzle to a substrate to create a three-dimensional object.

Apparatus for spray deposition

An apparatus for forming 3D objects from metallic powder, includes a delivery mechanism adapted to emit a flow of metallic powder at sufficiently high velocity to enable it to form a solid mass on a substrate; and a positioning mechanism adapted to set or adjust the distance and/or angle between the delivery mechanism and the substrate as powder builds up on the substrate. A control system is adapted to receive measured geometry data representing the state of the object as it builds and to control adjustment of the positioning means in response to that data for accurate formation of the object.

Apparatus for forming 3D objects

A fan assembly includes an axis of rotation and a fan that includes an inlet ring and a rear plate that together define an inner fan chamber, wherein the fan is a backward curved plug fan. The fan assembly also includes an axial flux motor coupled to the rear plate such that the motor is positioned entirely outside the fan chamber to facilitate preventing interference between the motor and an airflow within the fan chamber.

An axial flux electrical machine includes a housing having a center portion with a cylindrical wall, a stator assembly attached to the housing, a bearing assembly attached to the stator assembly, and a rotor assembly rotatably attached to the bearing assembly. A bearing mount system includes a bearing isolator that is attached to the wall of the housing, and a bearing cup that is attached to the bearing assembly and the bearing isolator.

Axial flux electrical machine bearing mount system and methods

A motor housing for enclosing a first stator module and a second stator module of a motor is provided. The motor housing includes a stator housing. The stator housing has a first module portion coupled to the first stator module, wherein the first module has a first contoured shape complimentary to the first stator module. A second module portion is coupled to the second stator module, wherein the second module has a second contoured shape complimentary to the second stator module. The housing also includes a base portion having a first side coupled to the first module portion and a second side coupled to the second module portion. The base portion further includes a third side coupled to and extends between the first side and the second side. A rotor housing is coupled to the stator housing and has a fastener coupled to the third side.

Motor housing and methods of assembling the same

An electric motor that includes an electronic motor controller is described. The electronic motor controller includes a motor management circuit and a power supply circuit physically separate from the motor management circuit. The motor management circuit includes an insulated metal substrate, driver components operably attached to the insulated metal substrate and operable to provide output signals for application to windings of the electric motor, at least one current sensor operable for sensing an amount of current applied to the windings of and electric motor, and at least one control device operably attached to the insulated metal substrate for controlling operation of the driver components. The power supply circuit includes a composite circuit card and power processing components operably attached to the circuit card and operable to convert an input voltage into at least one output voltage to be supplied to the motor management circuit.

Methods and apparatus for reducing size and costs of motor controllers for electric motors

A poly-phase electromagnetic device having n winding phases (n&#x3e;2) wherein each phase is made from a single conductor strand wound in a lap form configuration. The windings are configured such that on assembly to a slotted magnetically conducive base a maximum of n&#x2212;1 end turns overlapping is achieved so that the slot packing density can be optimized. The preferred configurations also enable neat and compact terminations which facilitates efficient packaging of the completed device. The windings are made either from discrete bobbins which are electrically interconnected upon assembly to the base, or alternatively from strings of continuously formed sub-windings. The latter process in particular enables full or partial automation of the winding and/or assembly process.
