A diaphragm type gas pressure reducing regulator and adapter in combination in which the adapter serves to isolate the diaphragm from the valve seat in the regulator in response to a spontaneous ignition. The adapter comprises a plunger which intercouples the valve and the diaphragm assembly during normal operation of the regulator and isolates the diaphragm assembly from the valve in response to a spontaneous ignition within the regulator body upstream of the diaphragm assembly.

The pressure reducing regulator of the present invention is designed for oxygen service to prevent oxygen burn through. The regulator includes a diaphragm assembly which uses a metallic shield to protect the diaphragm from hot gases or combustibles issuing from valve chamber upstream of the diaphragm chamber.

A gas pressure reducing regulator having a valve assembly with a slidable valve member containing a valve seat disposed within a valve chamber communicating with the inlet opening connection to a source of high inlet pressure through serially connected passageways having intersecting axes with an included angle of less than ninety degrees. The valve assembly also has a frustoconical tapered head juxtaposed relative to the valve seat such that upon loss of valve seat material the nozzle nestles into the seat to close off the valve.

Gas pressure reducing regulator

An elongated hollow tube containing a freely movable ball is used to indicate and vary the ratio between gases to be mixed by passing each gas into a separate end of the tube. A critical pressure relationship is established between the applied gases at any given location relative to each oppposite end of the tube and between the gas pressures at such locations and the pressure on each side of the ball respectively. This relationship is established using pressure regulators on each side of the tube with at least one restricting orifice in one gas line.
