A lithographic desensitizing ink comprises an alkyl amine, a hydroxylated polymerized oil and an acidic resin dissolved in a hydrophobic, hydroxylic solvent, and a pigment, wherein the amine is a secondary or tertiary amine or tertiary amine oxide with substituents of 4 to 12 carbon atoms and wherein the oil has a hydroxyl value of 50 to 250 and a viscosity (ASTM D 803) of 10 to 2000 stokes.

High strength, highly transparent azo pigments have mean ultimate particle size of from 0.010 micron to 0.040 micron. These pigments are produced by a process in which the azo compound is reacted with a coupler in the presence of one or more of a specific group of surface active agents.

Diarylide yellow pigment compositions which are sulfonated with 2,2'disulfobenzidine and/or p-sulfo-acetoacetanilide are rendered hydrophobic by treatment with specific quaternary ammonium salts. The pigment compositions are easily flushed into flushed bases. When incorporated into printing inks, the pigments demonstrate improved color strength and transparency.

Improved diarylide yellow pigment compositions having high color strength. The compositions are manufactured by modifying tetrazotized 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine with a solution of about 3 to about 5 mole percent of a first acetoacetarylide, followed by coupling into a second acetoacetarylide such as acetoacetanilide.

High color strength diarylide yellow pigment compositions

Diarylide yellow pigment compositions comprising the reaction product of tetrazotized 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine coupled into an acetoacetarylide, and, a ketimine formed by the reaction of a primary amine and an acetoacetarylide. The ketimine-containing diarylide yellow pigment compositions have improved color strength, improved transparency and contain essentially no free primary amine. Printing inks manufactured with the diarylide yellow pigment compositions of this invention have increased color strength, increased transparency, decreased degradation of publication gravure ink vehicles and decreased acidic fountain solution emulsification in offset ink printing processes.

Amine-free, easily dispersible diarylide yellow pigment compositions

Novel red azo pigment--fortified latex compositions for use in printing inks. The novel pigment compositions have superior burn-out resistance and color strength. The novel pigment compositions are made by coupling orthanilic acid derivatives (including optionally, disulfonated amine derivatives) with B-napthal precipitating the metal salts and mixing with fortified latex dispersions. The fortified latex dispersion comprises a dispersed polymer phase in a dissolved polymer phase. The dispersed polymer is preferably a high molecular weight copolymer while the soluble polymer is preferably a low molecular weight acrylic copolymer containing carboxyl group functionality. The novel pigment compositions have superior color strength.

Azo pigment composition containing a laked Azo pigment and fortified

Diarylide yellow pigments are treated with linear alkyl poly-amines to obtain pigments that are easily dispersible in aromatic publication gravure inks and show less penetration into and higher gloss on uncoated paper stock.
