Compositions and methods for preventing or ameliorating tissue damage caused by an inflammatory disorder or pathogenic infections are described. In one aspect, a method for preventing or ameliorating tissue damage caused by an inflammatory disorder or pathogenic infection comprises administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of a neuregulin. In another aspect, the composition comprises one or more active agents that: (a) increase expression or activity of a neuregulin; (b) inhibit the expression or activity of CXCL10, STAT3 or HEME; or (c) both (a) and (b).

Method for treating malaria

Neuregulin, a known neuroprotein, has been found to ameliorate or prevent damage caused by mechanical or chemical assault to blood vessels and, when administered into the cerebral spinal fluid, can ameliorate damage to neuronal tissue caused by stroke or inflammation. Additionally, neuregulin has been found to be useful for enhancement of stem cell migration from the ventricle to the site of injury to the brain.

Neuregulins for prevention and treatment of damage from acute assault on vascular and neuronal tissue and as regulators of neuronal stem cell migration

Composition containing a chimeric neuregulin polypeptides and method of making such polypeptides are disclosed. The chimeric neuregulin comprises a first moiety of at least 10 amino acids, wherein the first moiety is derived from a first polypeptide; and a second moiety of at least 5 amino acids, wherein the second moiety is derived from a second polypeptide; wherein the first polypeptide is a neuregulin and the chimeric neuregulin exhibits an enhanced binding affinity to integrin, Erb 3, or Erb 4 comparing to that of the first neuregulin.

Chimeric neuregulins and method of making and use thereof

A method and composition for protecting and/or treating neuroinjury are disclosed. In one aspect, the present application discloses a method for protecting and/or treating a subject from organophosphate-induced neuronal injury. The method comprises administering to a subject an effective amount of 4R cembranoid, 4S cembranoid or a cembranoid analogue. In another aspect, the application discloses neuroprotective pharmaceutical compositions for protecting and/or treating a subject from organophosphate-induced neuronal injury. A kit for protecting and treating a subject from organophosphate-induced neurodamage is also disclosed.

Methods and compositions for protecting and treating neuroinjury

Neuregulin, a known neuroprotein, has been found to ameliorate or prevent damage caused by mechanical or chemical assault to blood vessels and, when administered into the cerebral spinal fluid, can ameliorate damage to neuronal tissue caused by stroke, inflammation or organophosphate neurotoxins. Additionally, neuregulin has been found to be useful for enhancement of stem cell migration from the ventricle to the site of injury to the brain.
