Disclosed is a rechargeable battery including: an electrode assembly wound with a separator between a first electrode and a second electrode; a first exterior material including an opening receiving the electrode assembly and facing a bottom side of the electrode assembly; a second exterior material covering the opening, and combined to the first exterior material to seal an internal side of the first exterior material; and a reinforcing member having greater rigidity than the first exterior material and the second exterior material, disposed between the electrode assembly and the first exterior material, and including a side wall for surrounding a lateral side of the electrode assembly.

A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode; a case connected to the first electrode to house the electrode assembly and including an opening to expose the electrode assembly; a cap plate coupled with the case to cover an outer region of the opening and including a through-hole to expose a center region of the opening; and a terminal plate bonded to and insulated from the cap plate to cover the through-hole and connected to the second electrode, and the outer surface of the case has a first protrusions-and-depressions shape.

A rechargeable battery is disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention provides a rechargeable battery including: an electrode assembly in which a separator is provided between a first electrode and a second electrode; a case configured to have an opening at a side thereof to accommodate the electrode assembly; a cap assembly coupled to the opening to close and seal the case; a first electrode tab configured to extend from the first electrode and to be coupled to the case; and a second electrode tab configured to extend from the second electrode and to be coupled to the cap assembly, wherein the cap assembly includes a metal layer to which the second electrode tab is coupled, and a plastic layer stacked on an outer surface of the metal layer.

A rechargeable battery includes: a case receiving an electrode assembly and including an opening; a cap assembly including a cap plate coupled to the case to cover the opening, and a terminal plate thermally fused to the cap plate by a thermal-fusion member, the thermal-fusion member electrically insulating the cap plate and the terminal plate from each other; and a sealing part attached to and located on a side of the thermal-fusion member, a side surface of the terminal plate, and an outer surface of the cap plate.

A rechargeable battery according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: an electrode assembly which is wound and includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode; a casing which accommodates the electrode assembly; a first electrode tab which is connected to a non-coated portion of the first electrode; a second electrode tab which is connected to a non-coated portion of the second electrode; and a first insulating tape which is positioned at a winding start portion of the electrode assembly and attached to the non-coated portion of the first electrode so as to at least cover a center of a first curved portion which is curvedly formed as the electrode assembly is wound.

A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode; a case configured to be connected to the first electrode to accommodate the electrode assembly, and including an opening to receive the electrode assembly; a cap plate configured to be coupled with the case to cover an outer area of the opening, and including a through-hole to expose a central area of the opening; and a terminal plate configured to be connected to the second electrode and to be insulation-bonded to the cap plate, and including a flange portion covering the through-hole, and a protrusion penetrating the through-hole from the flange portion.

A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode; a case including an inner space accommodating the electrode assembly, and an opening; a cap plate coupled to the case at the opening and including a terminal hole exposing the inner space; an electrode terminal electrically connected to the electrode assembly through the terminal hole and overlapping the cap plate; electrode tabs respectively connected to the first electrode and the second electrode; and an electrolyte solution in the inner space, and at least one electrode tab of the electrode tabs has an inclined portion that is inclined at a first angle with respect to a surface of the electrode assembly facing the at least one electrode tab.

A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode; a case connected to the first electrode and accommodating the electrode assembly, the case including an opening to receive the electrode assembly; a cap plate bonded to the case to cover an outer region of the opening and including a through-hole to expose a center region of the opening; a terminal plate bonded to and insulated from the cap plate, covering the through-hole, and connected to the second electrode; and a terminal plating layer coated on an upper surface of the terminal plate, and a thickness of a center portion of the terminal plating layer overlapping the through-hole is thicker than a thickness of an outer portion of the terminal plating layer overlapping the upper surface of the terminal plate.

A secondary battery, including an electrode assembly, the electrode assembly including a pair of electrodes having opposite polarities, and a separator between the pair of electrodes; and at least one electrode tab electrically connected to one of the pair of electrodes, the at least one electrode tab extending outside of the electrode assembly, the electrode assembly further including a buffer layer on the electrode to which the at least one electrode tab is electrically connected, the buffer layer at least partially overlapping a region in which the electrode is connected to the electrode tab.
