A display apparatus includes: a main information receiver which receives main information; a video processor which processes a main video corresponding to the received main information; a display unit which displays the main video thereon; a sub information communicator which receives sub information comprising at least one of a video, an audio and text through Internet Protocol; and a controller which controls the video processor to process a sub video corresponding to the sub information received through the sub information communicator and display the sub video on the display unit.

Display apparatus and control method thereof

A video signal receiver including a display synchronizing signal generation device and control method are disclosed. The video signal receiver includes: a video processor converting an input analog video signal into a digital signal; a display processor scaling the video signal converted at the video processor with an output resolution; a displaying unit displaying the video signal scaled by the display processor; a detecting unit detecting whether an input vertical synchronization signal (In V-sync) and an output vertical synchronization signal of the analog video signal match; a PLL (Phase Locked Loop) adjusting a pixel clock according to a detection result of the detecting unit; and a timing generating unit generating an output horizontal synchronization signal and the output vertical synchronization signal by use of the pixel clock adjusted by the PLL, and providing the generated output horizontal and output vertical synchronization signals to the display processor and the detecting unit. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent twitching and freezing of a screen, even though input and output frame rates do not correspond.

Video signal receiver including display synchronizing signal generation device and control method thereof

A display synchronization signal generator capable of displaying a stable image regardless of changes in a transmission speed of a received digital broadcast signal in a digital broadcast receiver. The display synchronization signal generator includes a speed difference detector, a vertical period change amount detector, a vertical synchronization signal generator, a pixel clock signal generator, and a horizontal synchronization signal generator. The vertical period change amount detector detects a change amount in a vertical period of an image to be displayed, based on a detected speed difference. The vertical synchronization signal generation unit generates a vertical synchronization signal with a period that is changed based on the change amount detected by the vertical period change amount detector. The pixel clock signal generator generates a pixel clock signal based on a basic clock signal. The horizontal synchronization signal generator generates a horizontal synchronization signal in response to the pixel clock signal.

Display synchronization signal generator in digital broadcast receiver

An apparatus to improve an image sharpness and a method thereof which can improve the image sharpness of an image through an adaptive operation of the apparatus according to resolutions of input/output video signals and an emphasis of edge portions of the image. The apparatus to improve the image sharpness includes a plurality of band pass filters to respectively extract preset different frequency bands from a first video signal converted and inputted according to a video format of a display device, a filter selection part to select and operate at least one of the plurality of band pass filters, at least one first differentiator to differentiate video signals outputted from the selected band pass filters, at least one second differentiator to second-differentiate the differentiated video signals outputted from the first differentiators, at least one amplifier to amplify the second-differentiated video signals of the at least one second differentiator according to a preset amplification factor and to output a second video signal, and an adder to invert the second video signal, and adding the inverted second video signal to the first video signal to output an added video signal as the output video signal.

Apparatus to improve image sharpness adaptively according to multi-video formats and method thereof

A display synchronization signal generation apparatus and method is provided which makes it possible to display a stable image irrespective of changes in transmission speed of a received digital broadcast signal by generating a synchronization signal of an image to be displayed independently of a decoding period. A decoder suitable for the display synchronization signal generation apparatus is also provided. The decoder includes a clock signal generation unit, a pixel clock signal generation unit, and a synchronization signal generation unit. The clock signal generation unit generates a plurality of clock signals used for the decoding of the decoder based on a reference clock signal whose speed is controlled according to the transmission speed of a received broadcast signal. The pixel clock signal generation unit generates a display pixel clock signal based on a basic clock signal that is not dependent on the reference clock signal. The synchronization signal generation unit generates a horizontal synchronization signal and a vertical synchronization signal of the image to be displayed, in synchronization with the pixel clock signal generated by the pixel clock signal generation unit.

Display synchronization signal generation apparatus in digital broadcast receiver and decoder

A display synchronization signal generation apparatus and method, which make it possible to display a stable image irrespective of changes of horizontal and vertical frequencies of a received analog video signal in an analog video signal receiver. The display synchronization signal generation apparatus includes a detection unit, a change amount conversion unit, and a vertical synchronization signal generation unit. The detection unit detects an amount of change in a vertical period of an input video signal by comparing current and previous vertical periods of the input video signal. The change amount conversion unit converts the detected amount of change into the amount of change in a vertical period of a video signal to be displayed, using the current vertical period and the total number of pixels per frame. The vertical synchronization signal generation unit generates a vertical synchronization signal of the video signal to be displayed.

Display synchronization signal generation apparatus and method in analog video signal receiver

A clock generating device for use in a digital video apparatus generates display clock matching an input video format. The clock generating device generates a clock of a frequency which is a predetermined number of times greater than the clock necessary for displaying video signals having a respectively different format, frequency-divides the generated clock, phase-locks the obtained stable frequency and supplies corresponding display clock. Video signals of a respectively different format can be displayed into a single display format, to thereby provide an effect of displaying a video signal without degeneration of a picture quality.
