A disk drive apparatus is provided. The disk drive apparatus includes: a frame which includes a slot to insert a disk therethrough; a spindle motor assembly which includes a turntable including a disk seating part and a chucking member, and a spindle motor to rotate the turntable; a traverse assembly which mounts the spindle motor thereon and is movable in a direction perpendicular to an inserting direction of the disk; a conveyance roller which is movable between a contact position and a non-contact position with the disk and conveys the disk using a friction force; and a roller driving unit which moves the conveyance roller from the non-contact position to the contact position after an unchucking operation of the disk is completed, when the disk is unloaded.

A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus includes a deck to which a head drum is mounted to record and reproduce information with respect to a running tape, and a tape-end sensor to sense starting and finishing ends of the running tape. Disclosed are a reel brake device and a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus having the same. The reel brake device comprises a tension band mounted on an outer circumference of a reel disc to control tension, the reel disc which is rotatably mounted on the main chassis to drive a tape reel of a tape cassette, and a brake unit fixed on the main chassis to help the tension band be in contact with the outer circumference of the reel disc. This can replace a conventional brake unit having a complicated structure, and therefore, the number of component parts can be reduced.

An improved magnetic tape guiding device for use with a magnetic tape transport system of a tape recorder and the like, and a method for using the same. The magnetic tape guiding system of the tape recorder transport system has a supply reel pole base assembly having a slant pole with a first guide unit having portions formed at both ends of the slant pole to function as a conventional roller for regulating upward and downward movement of the upper and lower edges of a moving magnetic tape, and a tension pole assembly having a tension pole with a second guide unit having portions formed at both ends of the tension pole to function as a conventional impedance roller for regulating upward and downward movement of the upper and lower edges of the moving magnetic tape. This arrangement can thus achieve 2-dimensional plane-traveling of the magnetic tape while also reducing the number of the parts of the guiding system.
