A concealable surgical light device such as for a birthing room has a frame for supporting the light on one side and a decorative panel on the other side. The frame includes reinforcing ribs positioned in a Y shape, and a cylindrical section at the intersection of the ribs for attaching the light. The frame is rotatably supported inside a housing which is fixed within the ceiling structure. At one end of the housing there is a fixed tube and a bearing and at the other end is an output shaft of a speed reducer gear connected to the frame through a torque limiter and slip clutch for rotatably supporting the frame. Wires are fed through the tube without being subjected to rubbing or twisting. In a closed position of the frame, the light is concealed within the ceiling structure and the decorative panel is flush with the ceiling. In an open position, the light is deployable as it faces into the birthing room. Rotation of the frame between the two positions is powered by a motor, through the reducer gear and torque limiter. On the fixed housing there is one limit switch engageable by a tab on the frame to detect when the frame is proximate the open position, and another switch and tab pair detects proximity to the closed position. In response to detection, the motor turns off.

Concealable birthing room light

A drain closure comprises a drain stopper having a downwardly projecting sleeve, an upwardly extending post loosely received in the sleeve, and structure carrying the post, the sleeve having at least one opening through the side thereof, and a spring carried by the sleeve and having an arm received in that opening to frictionally engage the post, whereby the sleeve, spring and stopper are adjustably movable up and down relative to the post, against frictional force exerted by the spring arm engaging the post as the arm slides relative to the post.

Adjustable drain closure

A toothbrush having an elongated handle provided at one end with a head comprising a surface from which bristles project in the usual manner. Within and extending longitudinally of the handle is an elongated cartridge chamber terminating at the head end of the handle with an opening communicating at one end with the chamber and at its other end with the bristled surface. The cartridge chamber is adapted to receive therein an elongated, tubular, flattenable, dentifrice cartridge insertable through an opening at the end of the chamber remote from the head. A dispensing member slidable longitudinally of and within the chamber is engageable with the cartridge to flatten such cartridge progressively from the remote end of the handle toward the head end thereof, thereby dispensing the dentifrice into the bristles of the toothbrush through an elastomeric, tubular cartridge tip disposed in the opening in the toothbrush head and extending beyond the bristled surface. The dispensing tip is provided with a peripheral wall of nonuniform thickness in cross section, such peripheral wall being provided adjacent the terminus of the tip, and within the bristles of the toothbrush head, with a self-closing slit extending longitudinally of the tip. In one form, the peripheral wall of the tip, when viewed in cross section, comprises nonconcentric inner and outer substantially circular walls, the slit being formed in the thinnest portion of the peripheral wall to facilitate opening of the slit in response to the development of pressure in the dentifrice by the slide member. In another form, the peripheral wall of the tip has a substantially circular outer cross section and a laterally elongated inner cross section with the slit being formed in one of the thicker portions of the peripheral wall for the same purpose.

Elastomeric cartridge with slitted nozzle tip

A toothbrush having an elongated handle provided at one end with a head comprising a surface from which bristles project in the usual manner. Within and extending longitudinally of the handle is an elongated cartridge chamber terminating at the head end of the handle with an opening communicating at one end with the chamber and at its other end with the bristled surface. The smaller of the two angles between the opening and the bristled surface is no more than about 45.degree.. The cartridge chamber is adapted to receive therein an elongated, tubular, flattenable, dentifrice cartridge insertable through an opening at the end of the chamber remote from the head. A dispensing member slidable longitudinally of and within the chamber is engageable with the cartridge to flatten such cartridge progressively from the remote end of the handle toward the head end thereof, thereby dispensing the dentifrice into the bristles of the toothbrush through an elastomeric, tubular cartridge tip disposed in the opening in the toothbrush head and extending beyond the bristled surface. The end of the handle remote from the toothbrush head is provided with a slide-member or dispensing-member chamber adjacent and laterally offset from the remote end of the cartridge chamber, the slide-member chamber receiving the slide-member therein, in a position spaced laterally from the remote end of the cartridge chamber, to leave such end of the cartridge chamber unobstructed by the slide-member during removal of a used cartridge and insertion of a fresh one.
