An adjustable motor vehicle seat comprises an adjustment device. The adjustment device comprises a spindle drive equipped with a spindle, and having a first articulation area and a second articulation area. The adjustment device is adjustable in an adjustment direction. The spindle extends in an angle of one of alpha (&#x3b1;) &#x3e;2&#xb0; and alpha &#x3e;10&#xb0;, to the adjustment direction.

An actuator for a motor vehicle, more specifically for a motor vehicle seat. The actuator comprises an electric motor having an output shaft, a gear that is connected to the output shaft and including a gear housing having two partially cylindrical exterior surfaces, and a spindle that communicates with the gear, the spindle defining a threading and runs transversely with respect to the output shaft. Further, the actuator comprises a gear retainer that (a) forms a surrounding grip around the gear housing, in which (b) the gear housing is held pivotal about a pivot axis that runs parallel to the output shaft, that (c) has two partially cylindrical interior surfaces, each mating the exterior surfaces against which they fit, and that (d) includes a recess or two recesses for the passage of the spindle. The gear retainer has fastening holes running parallel to the pivot axis.

Actuator for a motor vehicle seat

A catch device of a lengthwise adjustment mechanism of a motor vehicle seat comprises a first pair of rails and a second pair of rails, each having a bottom rail and a seat rail. A first detent ledge is associated with the bottom rail and comprises first detent openings and first detent webs. A first stopper unit is disposed in proximity to the first detent ledge and cooperates therewith, comprises two stopper teeth for engaging the first detent openings independently of one another and for disengaging therefrom together and is associated with the seat rail of the first pair of rails. A second detent ledge is associated with the bottom rail of the second pair of rails and comprises second detent openings and second detent webs. A second stopper unit is disposed in proximity to the second detent ledge and cooperates therewith, comprises a stopper means for engaging and disengaging the second detent openings and is associated with the seat rail of the second pair of rails. An actuation unit has a hand lever and comprises actuator means through which the hand lever is connected to the two stopper units for common actuation of the stopper units. The second stopper unit has only one stopper means, which is a coherent part and is either in or out of engagement with at least one second detent opening.

Catch device of a lengthwise adjustment mechanism of a motor vehicle seat with two pairs of rails

The forwardly movable vehicle seat has an underframe including a longitudinal adjusting device that has two pairs of rails, two catch devices and one actuation lever for actuating the catch devices. The vehicle seat further has a seat pan that is carried by the underframe. The seat pan includes a seat back that is pivotal about a seat back axis and on which there is disposed a release lever. In the actuation state, the seat back is unlocked for tilting, the actuation lever being actuated and the catch device unlocked when the seat back is tilted forward so that the seat can be brought from an initial position to a forwardly moved position. There is provided a memory mechanism that ensures that the seat, when being moved back from its forwardly moved position, resumes its initial position.

A hinge mounting for a seat back of a motor vehicle seat that is particularly suited for a motor vehicle seat having but one door on either side of the vehicle and has a first hinge arm, a second hinge arm and a round member that is interposed between the first hinge arm and the second hinge arm. The round member including (a) a first round plate connected to the first hinge arm, (b) a second round plate associated with the second hinge arm, (c) a clamp forming a partial grip around the rim of the two round plates to hold them together and (d) a stop device located between the two round plates. The two hinge arms are adapted for relative rotation about a hinge pin. The clamp has a cutout. The second round plate includes at least one retainer face located in the region of the cutout. A releasable retainer device matching the retainer face, cooperating therewith and optionally blocking same is provided on the second hinge arm.

The headrest has a first structural component for fastening the headrest to a seat back of a motor vehicle seat and a second structural component that is movable with respect to said first structural component in the event of a crash. A drive unit is disposed between the first structural component and the second structural component and comprises a locking unit, which is locked in the normal case, and a crash sensor connected to the locking unit which it controls. The locking unit comprises a disengagement drive with an electromagnet or a piezoelectric drive. The locking unit has one retainer member associated with the first structural component and one movable disengagement member associated with the second structural component. Retainer member and disengagement member are connected together via a hinge or via balls. The disengagement drive is capable of causing said disengagement member to move.

Headrest for motor vehicle

A locking device of a longitudinal adjustment device of a vehicle seat is provided with a catch bar with periodically arranged snap openings and snap studs that is assigned to a bottom rail of the longitudinal adjustment device and is further provided with a locking unit assigned to a seat rail of the longitudinal adjustment device. The locking device has at least two locking pins that can be inserted into the snap openings independent of one another, they can be disengaged only jointly. The locking pins are arranged in a guide member which has a pin bore for each locking pin. The snap pins are provided with a grooved region consisting of at least one individual groove. Said grooved region is located in proximity to the lower end of the corresponding pin bore when the locking pin is engaged in a snap opening.

The seat frame can either come with a height adjustment device of the seat frontal edge or not. Its seat carrier has at least one side part, one front arm means and one longitudinal adjustment device. The side part is provided with a first bore and a second bore. The front arm means is either realized by a parallelogram arm or a pair of arm means. The parallelogram arm has a first bearing member cooperating with the first bore. The pair of arm means is composed of an upper arm and a lower arm and a device for adjusting the angular position of the upper arm relative to the seat carrier. The upper arm is provided with a second bearing member which is spaced from the common joint and cooperates with the second bore. Both arms are pivotally joined together in a common joint. The lower arm shows a distance between the common joint and the bearing means, which is substantially of the same length as the distance realized by the parallelogram arm and measured between the first bearing member and the lower pivot joint.

A joint fitting for a vehicle seat with a forward tiltable seat back. The joint fitting has a first fitting part, a second fitting part and a pivot joint pivotally joining these two fitting parts. A locking cam is hinged to the first fitting part and is pivotal about a cam axle, the locking cam has a first end region located in proximity to the cam axle and a second end region. A locking bight is configured on the second fitting part and is provided with a first locking side and with a facing second locking side, the distance between these locking sides matching the distance between the two end regions. An actuation device acts on the locking cam at a distance from the cam axle so that the locking cam may be moved from a locking position into a release position. In the locking position, the first end region of the locking cam abuts on the first locking side and the second end region of the locking cam abuts on the second locking side.

The height-adjustable underframe of a vehicle seat has a left and a right couple of rails of a longitudinal adjusting device and a left and a right side part that are each hinge-connected to the corresponding seat rail of the couple of rails by way of a rear and a front pivoting arm on the left and the right side of the vehicle seat. A blocking arm is linked by a lower end region to the corresponding seat rail on the hinge point of a rear pivoting arm. The blocking arm is detachably fixed in proximity to its upper end in a stopping device, which is fastened on the corresponding side part.

The vehicle seat has a seat pan and a seat back. The seat back is provided with a seat back carrier, a padding body arranged on the seat back carrier and a headrest fastened on the seat back carrier. An upper shoulder area of the padding body, which is adjacent to the headrest, is provided with a normal disposition to yield to the load of a passenger's back. This disposition to yield increases considerably in case of an acceleration due to an accident.
