A child-resistant package includes a support for supporting hazardous material in use; a structure for selectively blocking access to hazardous material supported by the support, with the support being movable between a secured position in which access to the hazardous material is blocked and an access position in which the hazardous material is accessibly clear of the structure; at least one latch member movable between an engaged state and a disengaged state in which the support is allowed to move out of the secured position toward the access position; and a tab member movable with respect to the structure in a second direction different to the first direction, the tab member being coupled to the support to effect movement of the support out of the secured position in the first direction when the latch member is in the disengaged state.

Packaging

A package () comprising a belt () extending between a first end () and a second end () of a belt path; and first and second tab members () attached to the belt () such that when the first tab member () is moved in a first direction, the second tab member () is driven by the belt () to move in a second direction different to the first direction. The tab members () are attached to the belt () by respective bonds (), the movement of the tab members () in either direction being delimited by at least one bond reaching an end of the belt path; and when at least one of the tab members is in a closed position, said bond is positioned inwardly from the ends of the belt path so that said tab member can move in both the first and second directions from the closed position before the bond reaches an end of the belt path to delimit said movement.

Drawer-and-shell type package

A box for use in packaging comprises a tubular sleeve ( ) defining a through passage, a planar divider ( ) extending across the passage, a drive belt ( ) which passes around the divider, a tray ( ) and a pull-out tab member ( ) each extending into the passage and attached to the drive belt. In the closed position the tray ( ) and tab member ( ) are fully inside the tubular sleeve. When the tab member ( ) is pulled out of the sleeve ( ) in a first direction, the drive belt ( ) is forced to slide around the divider and the tray ( ) moves out of the sleeve ( ) in the opposite direction. The tray ( ) can be used to house any consumer product, for example CDs, confectionery, pharmaceuticals. The tab member ( ) can be used to convey information to the consumer.
