A polymer composite and its method of manufacture using a recycled multilayer material. An example of the recycled multilayer material is comprised of a polyethylene/polyethylene terephthalate/aluminum film that may be extruded with organic filler to obtain desirable performance in wood-substitute products such as deck boards, railing, fencing, pergolas, residential cladding/siding, sheet products, and other applications.

Use of recycled packaging in polymer composite products

A polymer composite and its method of manufacture using a recycled multilayer material. An example of the recycled multilayer material is comprised of a polyethylene/polyethylene terephthalate/aluminum film or polyethylene/nylon/aluminum film that may be extruded with organic filler to obtain desirable performance in wood-substitute products such as deck boards, railing, fencing, pergolas, residential cladding/siding, sheet products, and other applications.

A method of manufacturing a component comprised of a substrate layer and a cap layer. In one exemplary embodiment, multiple co-extruded wood composite components may be formed simultaneously. In another exemplary embodiment, a component may have a substrate layer comprised of cellulosic material. The cap layer may also include cellulosic filler and at least one streaker. The resulting component may serve a variety of different uses. For example, the component may be used in railing systems such as for decks, porches, fences, stairs, or other suitable applications.

Methods of manufacturing a lattice having a distressed appearance

A component such as a siding panel comprised of a PVC/wood flour composite. Another embodiment is a component such as a siding panel that is made from a PVC/CPE/wood flour composite. The cellulosic composite may be extruded through a die and then bent into the shape of the component. Optionally, a reinforcement backer (e.g., an expanded polystyrene foam panel) may be adhered to the cellulosic composite siding.

Cellulosic composite component

The present invention is a component such as a siding panel that may be comprised of various formulations of cellulosic/polymer composite materials. One embodiment of the present invention is a siding panel that is comprised of a cellulosic/PVC composite material. This composite material may include at least one cellulosic filler in the amount of about 30% to about 60% by weight and a PVC material in the amount of about 40% to about 70% by weight. The PVC material may include about 1 to about 10 parts stabilizer(s) per 100 parts of the PVC resin, about 2 to about 12 parts lubricant(s) per 100 parts of the PVC resin, and about 0.5 to about 8 parts process aid(s) per 100 parts of the PVC resin. Another embodiment of the present invention is a siding panel that may be comprised of a cellulosic/polypropylene composite material. This composite material is comprised of at least one cellulosic filler in an amount of about 30% to about 70% by weight and a polypropylene material in an amount of about 30% to about 70% by weight. The polypropylene material includes at least one lubricant in an amount of about 10 to about 20 parts per 100 parts of a polypropylene resin.

Cellulosic/polymer composite material

A multilayer synthetic wood component comprised of a layer of a first synthetic wood composition that is secured to a layer of a second synthetic wood composition. As a result, the present invention may provide a component that utilizes the beneficial characteristics of each of the compositions. For instance, the component can have an improved combination of appearance, strength, durability, weight, weatherability, and other characteristics. Moreover, the present invention enables the ingredients of each layer to be tailored to the particular application. Consequently, certain ingredients can be conserved, thereby reducing the cost and/or the weight of the component.

Multilayer synthetic wood component

The present invention is an ABS foam composition. The composition is comprised of ABS, a foam modifier, and a blowing agent. The composition may be formed into a variety of shapes and products using many different processing techniques, e.g., extrusion and molding.

ABS foam and method of making same

A method of manufacturing a component in which a cellulosic material is mixed with a plastic material to form a cellulosic reinforced plastic composite. The cellulosic reinforced plastic composite is then formed into irregular shaped granules, such as by grinding. The granules are then molded into the component.

Synthetic wood composite material and method for molding

The present invention is a foam composite wood replacement material and a method for its manufacture. One embodiment of the present invention is a cellulosic/polymer foamable composite material. The composite material may include at least one cellulosic filler in the amount of about 20% to about 60% by weight and a plastic material in the amount of about 40% to about 80% by weight. The plastic material may include stabilizer(s) in an amount of about 1 to about 10 parts per 100 parts of a polymer resin, lubricant(s) in an amount of about 1 to about 12 parts per 100 parts of the polymer resin, process aid(s) in an amount of about 2 to about 15 parts per 100 parts of the polymer resin, and blowing agent(s) in amount of about 0.25 to about 5 parts per 100 parts of the polymer resin. Examples of the polymer resin are polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene. The foamable composite may be used to make structural components such as siding units.

Foam composite wood replacement material

A system of compression molding a synthetic wood formulation into a commercially useable synthetic wood component is described. Surprising results are achieved when the dry formulation is placed under heat and pressure. Many different components may be made using the present invention, such as by example, wood-like trim components for the housing construction industry.
