A coil, comprising: a wire wound to form a plurality of double-D (DD) sub-coils, each said DD sub-coil having a plurality of sides defining one of a plurality of hexagonal shaped segments arranged to define a honeycomb structure; wherein a magnetic field is created when current passes through the plurality of DD sub-coils, the plurality of DD sub-coils being configured so that when activated the current flows in a same first direction through adjacent sides of first and second ones of the plurality of DD sub-coils, flows in a same second direction through adjacent sides of first and third ones of the plurality of DD sub-coils, and flows in a same third direction through adjacent sides of the second and third ones of the plurality of coils.

Honeycomb multi-DD coil design for wireless power transfer systems

A system and method for generating a heat sink for circuitry, such as a power module, that facilitates removal of heat from the circuitry. To improve power density of power modules, not only electrical but also thermal optimization may be carried out as the two subsystems closely interact with each other.

Heat sink system

A capacitor packaging having a central termination and three or more capacitors (or groups of capacitors) arranged about the central termination. The electrical flow paths between the termination and the capacitors or groups of capacitors are of substantially the same length. The capacitors or groups of capacitors may be arranged in a generally circular pattern with the termination centered on the center. The termination may include first and second terminals. The capacitors may be mounted to a printed circuit board ('PCB') with traces on opposite surfaces of the PCB providing electrical flow paths from the terminals to opposite legs of the capacitors. The capacitor packaging may include a primary PCB with a first circular arrangement of capacitors and a secondary PCB with a second circular arrangement of capacitors. The capacitors may be sandwiched between the PCBs with the second arrangement of capacitors disposed concentrically inwardly of the first arrangement.

Wireless power system

A system and method for sensorless coil detection that exploits a dead-time effect in a WPT inverter as an indicator of presence of a receiver. System and method of wireless power supply

A system and method are provided for a feed-forward control of an inverter to reduce, and potentially minimize, a DC link capacitor of a wireless power transfer system. The feed-forward control may be utilized to reduce the capacitance of the DC link capacitor in a single-phase series-series compensated WPT system.

A direct current controller includes a rectifier configured to convert alternating current input into a direct current output. A converter electrically coupled to the rectifier generates a converted direct current voltage that regulates a converted direct current from the direct current output of the rectifier and synthesizes an ac component of an alternating current grid to counteract an induced back-emf. A direct current controller central controller coupled to the converter regulates the converted direct current.
