A mother substrate for a display panel and a display panel using the same are disclosed. A mother substrate for a display panel includes a conductive ring disposed in a non-display area outside the display area and surrounding each of the display areas, and one or more dummy pixel driving circuits disposed in a non-display area outside the display area. An electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention structure inside the dummy pixel driving circuit can prevent defects of display panels due to ESD occurring in the manufacturing process of the display panel.

A mother substrate for a display panel and a display panel using the same are disclosed. The mother substrate comprises a plurality of display area including a plurality of light-emitting areas configured to receive light-emitting elements, a plurality of wirings, and a plurality of pads connected to the plurality of wirings; a conductive ring in a non-display area that surrounds the display area such that each of the display areas is surrounded by the conductive ring and electrically connected to the pads; a photoresist pattern covering the plurality of display areas and the non-display area; and a first metal layer covering the photoresist pattern. According to an embodiment, the liquid crystal display at least one signal line disposed in a display area and extending to a non-display area located outside the display area, a common line crossing the signal line in the non-display area, at least one static electricity preventing element connected between the common line and the signal line in the non-display area, and at least one static electricity preventing auxiliary electrode projected towards the signal line from the static electricity preventing element in the non-display area.

An LCD device with improved an aperture ratio and decreased parasitic capacitance has a passivation layer of an inorganic material and which includes a gate line on a first substrate; a gate insulating layer on an entire surface of the first substrate including the gate line; a data line on the gate insulating layer in perpendicular to the gate line, to define a pixel region; a thin film transistor at a crossing portion of the gate and data lines; a passivation layer on the entire surface of the first substrate including the thin film transistor; a pixel electrode on the passivation layer, for being connected with a drain electrode of the thin film transistor; and a light-shielding metal for receiving a voltage, formed between the data line and the pixel electrode, to prevent a parasitic capacitance between the data line and the pixel electrode.
