A communication system including: a base station; and a terminal configured to: select a known signal from at least one first known signal included in a plurality of known signals that is divided into the at least one first known signal and at least one second known signal, each of the at least one first known signal indicating that the terminal transmits a following uplink signal including a specific data, each of the at least one second known signal indicating that the terminal transmits the following uplink signal not including the specific data, the following uplink signal being transmitted from the terminal to the base station in association with the selected known signal, and transmit the selected known signal to the base station.

An apparatus acquires a parameter set including first and second parameter subsets. The first parameter subset stores first throughput and first power consumption that are measured, before a handover of a mobile station, by each base-station belonging to a measurement target group including a plurality of handover-candidate base-stations and a handover-source base-station. The second parameter subset stores second throughput and second power consumption that are estimated by each base-station belonging to the measurement target group, on the assumption that the mobile station is handed over to the each base-station. The apparatus calculates, before and after the handover, for each of the plurality of handover-candidate base-stations, a total energy efficiency of a pair of the handover-source base-station and the each of the plurality of handover-candidate base-stations, based on the parameter set, and selects, from among the plurality of handover-candidate base-stations, the handover-destination base-station based on the calculated total energy efficiencies.

A wireless communication system includes a first relay station that includes a first storage and performs wireless communication with a first base station coupled to an exchange by a wire, and a mobile device that performs wireless communication with the first relay station. The first relay station receives first data with a first sequence number from the first base station, and stores the first data with a second sequence number into the first storage, the first relay station selects a first node as a handover destination, and when the first node is a second base station coupled to the exchange by a wire, the first relay station receives second data with a third sequence number from the first base station, and transmits the first data with the second sequence number and the second data with a fourth sequence number continuous to the second sequence number to the second base station.
