A position adjusting system for adjusting the position of a seat n a vehicle and preventing movement of the seat resulting from external forces acting on the seat. The system includes a seat track fixable to the vehicle, a motor actuator, and a gear train engaged with the motor actuator. The seat track is adapted to cooperate with the seat track to convert movement of the motor actuator into movement of the seat track and the seat. A non-reversing clutch mechanism is coupled with the gear train and adapted to transfer torque from the motor actuator through the gear train to move the seat upon actuation of the motor actuator but locking upon torque being applied through the seat track, thereby preventing the external forces acting on the seat from moving the seat relative to the vehicle.

Position adjusting system for a seat of a vehicle

An over-running clutch pulley of the preferred embodiment includes a sheave member, a hub member located substantially concentrically within the sheave member, a sealing member, and a clutch member, which cooperate to rotationally engage the drive belt and the cylindrical shaft. The sheave member preferably includes a sheave input section adapted to engage the input device, a sheave clutch section defining a sheave clutch surface, and a sheave flange element. Similarly, the hub member preferably includes a hub output section adapted to engage the output device, a hub clutch section defining a hub clutch surface, and a hub lip element. The sealing member preferably includes a seal outer section frictionally engaged with the sheave flange element, and a seal inner section slidably engaged with the hub lip element. The sealing member preferably functions to substantially seal a cavity defined by the sheave flange element and the hub lip element.

Over-running clutch pulley with composite sealing member

A reusable retaining strap (30) for holding a clutch release bearing (12) and actuator (11) together in a contracted position during shipment and installation. In one embodiment, a pair of elongated arms (48) are connected to opposite sides of a central ring (46) which is secured to a piston (38) of the actuator (11). In a second embodiment, the elongate arms (48) are separate members fixed at one end to the piston (38). In each case, the arms (48) include anchoring lugs (50) on their distal ends (51). The anchoring lugs (50) extend transversely relative to the length of the arms (48) and are releasably secured to a receptacle (53) formed on the housing (32) of the actuator (11).

Reusable position retaining strap for clutch release mechanism

A clutch release mechanism includes an annular piston arranged to move an anti-friction bearing axially for operating a friction clutch between an engaged position and a disengaged position. The outer diametrical dimension of the anti-friction bearing is less than the internal profile dimension of the annular cylinder, whereby the bearing is movable into the space circumscribed by the cylinder when the piston is in its retracted position.

Hydraulically actuated clutch release mechanism

An improved clutch release bearing assembly includes a sliding sleeve providing first and second sliding surfaces respectively facing the bore of a bearing and a guide element extending through the bore, both surfaces minimizing binding, wear or excessive friction between the bearing and the guide element during relative reciprocal motion therebetween. The sleeve, preferably fashioned from plastic, finds particular utility in a clutch release bearing surrounding a transmission shaft retainer or quill tube. The length of the sleeve is such that the bearing may slide on an outer sliding surface for a predetermined distance.

A variable reflectivity display which defines a plane of display (92) is disclosed. It comprises a fixed electrode (16) which defines a first reflective surface having a first reflectivity. A shield (20) defines a second reflective surface having a second reflectivity. The second reflectivity is different from the first reflectivity. A flexible tongue (18) having a mirrored surface is supported in a position where one side of the tongue (18) is adjacent to the shield (20). Means for attracting the tongue to the fixed electrode is provided. The shield and fixed electrode are configured and dimensioned, and supported in a position in facing relationship with respect to each other in such a manner that when the side of the tongue (16) opposite the mirrored surface is in abutting relationship to one of the reflective surfaces, that one of the reflective surfaces supports the tongue (16) forming the mirrored surface into a shape where light incident upon the element is incident upon the other of the reflective surfaces, or is incident upon the mirrored surface and reflected against the other of the reflective surfaces or reflected from the mirrored surface at an angle with respect to the plane of display (92) that is less than (180-A)/2 degrees, where A is the useful angle of view of the display device.

The pressure plate actuation fingers of a friction clutch are provided with means for noise attenuation by the application of acoustical materials, alteration of the mass of vibrating parts, or surface treatment of slipping parts either individually or collectively to prevent the generation of objectionable noise due to resonance and sympathetic vibrations that are initiated by the stick-slip phenomenon as the non-rotating clutch release bearing contacts the relatively rotating actuation fingers.
