A communication server is disclosed. The communication server comprises a processor, a memory, and an application stored in the memory. The application, when executed by the processor, receives a request that identifies a subject to remove from a user history of the a user equipment (UE), wherein the user history is compiled based on communication events initiated by the UE and is associated with content that is sent to the UE. The application, responsive to receiving the request from the UE, transmits a user history modification request to a history management server, wherein the communication server disassociates the subject from the user history identified in the request received from the UE.

A method and system for blindly triggering handover based on past failures to trigger handover of beamforming-served devices. A computing system identifies a geolocation area where wireless communication devices (WCDs) that are served with beamforming by a first access node tend to experience radio link failure after having reported to the first access node being within threshold weak coverage of the first access node and threshold strong coverage of a second access node. And, based on the identifying, the computing system then blindly triggers handover of a given WCD from the first access node to the second access node in response to determining that the given WCD is served with beamforming by the first access node while positioned in the identified geolocation area.

A multi-mode mobile station includes a first interface for communicating with a first wireless network, such as a wireless wide area network (WWAN), and a second interface for communicating with a second wireless network, such as a wireless local area network (WLAN). While the multi-mode mobile station has a first connection with the first wireless network, the multi-mode mobile station establishes a second connection with the second wireless network. When the second connection is established, the second wireless network transmits an acknowledgement signal to the multi-mode mobile station. In response to the acknowledgment signal, the multi-mode mobile station disables the first connection with the first wireless network and powers down the first interface.

A mobile location system (MLS) may receive a request to provide a representative location of a user equipment device (UE). In response to receiving the request, the MLS may apply a location determination process so as to determine a location of the UE. The MLS may then determine that the determined location of the UE coincides with an existing location of another entity, such as a private address. In response to determining that the determined location of the UE coincides with the existing location of the other entity, the MLS may adjust the determined location to not coincide with the existing location of the other entity. The adjusted determined location may be a road segment, geodetic marker, or property boundary. The MLS may then provide a response to the request, in which the response identifies the adjusted determined location of the UE as the representative location of the UE.

A method and system for providing connections from a wireless access point. The wireless access point has multiple VPN tunnels. The access point detects a wireless-network identifier (such as a service set identifier (SSID)) provided by a terminal via an air interface, and the access point uses the wireless-network identifier as a basis to select one of the VPN tunnels. The access point then sends communication from the terminal via the selected VPN tunnel.

A wireless communication device comprises a processing system, a memory system, and a wireless communication transceiver. The processing system is configured to maintain device status information in the memory system of the wireless communication device, encode the device status information to generate an update status message in a bitstream protocol, and detect a condition of the wireless communication device which could impede a connection with a wireless access node. The wireless communication transceiver is configured to, in response to the processing system detecting the condition of the wireless communication device, transmit the update status message before the connection with the wireless access node is lost.

The described systems and methods allow for safer operation of a wireless communication device (WCD). The methods may be carried out at the WCD or at a wireless-communications network that interfaces to the WCD. A hands-free-audio (HFA) profile associated with the WCD may be set to enabled or disabled. A speed-condition of the WCD is determined and compared to a speed-threshold. If the speed-condition is greater than the speed-threshold and the HFA profile is enabled, then the WCD is operable to engage in wireless communications (e.g., voice calls or text messaging) via an HFA device associated with the WCD. If the speed-condition is greater than the speed-threshold and the HFA profile is set to disabled, then the WCD may prevent and/or postpone wireless communications from occurring. After the speed-condition is determined to be less than the speed-threshold, previously received communications (e.g., text messages) may be presented via the WCD.

Method and system for using a hands-free audio profile to limit use of a wireless communication device

Disclosed herein is a method and system to help reduce latency in responding to a location based service request from a mobile station. According to the method, the mobile station will include base station delay measurements with the location based service request. That way, when a network entity (such as the location based service provider, or a proxy between the mobile station and the location based service provider) receives the mobile station's request for a location-based service, the entity may readily convey the provided base station delay measurements to the positioning system to enable the positioning system to triangulate the mobile station's location without the need to request the base station delay measurements from the mobile station.

A mobile station communicating with a first radio network, such as a WLAN, may detect that it is communicating with an access point located at a perimeter of a coverage area of the first radio network rather than communicating with an access point located within an interior of the coverage area. In response, the mobile station might perform one or more predetermined actions, such as checking the availability of a radio network other than the WLAN, performing a handoff, sounding an alarm or some other action.

A mobile device for wireless communication with a wireless local area network (WLAN) includes a transceiver that is able to selectively transmit at a plurality of transmit power levels. When the mobile device associates with a wireless access point in the WLAN, the wireless access point transmits a control signal that controls the power level at which the mobile device transmits wireless signals to that wireless access point.

Methods and products for facilitating a method of reducing mobile-phone fraud are provided. A web call server provides call processing for web calls. The call processing for web calls comprises routing, queuing, and/or provision of web service applications. For routing, the web call server receives a call request message. In response to receiving the call request message, the web call server identifies a web call center resource. The web call server then generates and transmits a routing instruction to route the web call to the web call center resource. For queuing, the web call server receives a call request message for a web call. The web call server then determines whether any web call center resource is available to handle the web call in response to receiving the call request message. The web call server then transfers a web call indicator to a web call queue in response to the determination that all web call center resources are unavailable. For web service applications, the web call server receives a call request message for the web call. The web call server then identifies the web service application for the web call. After identifying the web service application, the web call server generates and transmits an instruction to provide the web service application to the web call.

Methods and systems are disclosed to help improve accuracy of location determination for a wireless communication device. An exemplary method involves: (a) at a wireless communication device operating in a radio access network, making a determination that the wireless communication device is likely to lose global positioning system (GPS) connectivity; (b) in response to the determination, powering on a GPS receiver to receive GPS location data for the wireless communication device; and (c) powering off the GPS receiver and storing the received GPS location data.
