An apparatus for servicing and repairing cues including a collet mounted to a rotation member and having a collet body defining a passage including a generally conical surface, at least two collet jaws formed of a flexible resilient material and slidably disposed within the passage to define arcuate gaps with the surface, and an adjuster for slidably moving the collet jaws to flexibly bear against a cue inserted through the collet. A cutter feed includes a mounting to a bed proximate to a headstock for movement parallel to the bed. A cue tip shaper mounted to the cutter feed and having a rotatable arm for shaping a cue tip to a preselected curvature. A flexible resilient sleeve rotationally mounted to a support for holding a cue by frictional contact. A pivot mount for mounting a motor to the bed in a first position proximate to the support and pivotable to a second position proximate to the headstock. A pincers press mounted for sliding movement along a guide way to pinch and smooth wrap on a cue. An iron mounted for sliding movement along the guide way to apply heat and pressure to wrap on a cue. A cue tip holder for mounting to the cutter feed and having at least one resilient finger adapted to hold a cue tip for attachment to the cue.

Compact high performance fuel system with accumulator

A three-way valve including a valve housing having a valve chamber and a high pressure fluid supply inlet, high pressure fluid outlet and drain communicating with the valve chamber is disclosed. A movable member is reciprocally received in the valve chamber so as to be reciprocated between first and second positions for selectively fluidically communicating the outlet with either the inlet or drain. A first valve seat is formed in the valve housing and concentrically disposed in the valve chamber for sealing communication between the outlet and drain and a second valve seat is concentrically disposed in a cavity formed in the movable member for sealing communication between the inlet and outlet. A floating pin is received in the movable valve member cavity at a one end of the movable valve member and cooperates with the second valve seat for selectively sealing fluidic communication between the inlet and the outlet. An actuating device is mounted on the valve housing adjacent an end of the movable valve member opposite the floating pin for advancing the movable valve member toward the first position when energized and for allowing the movable valve member to retract to the second position when de-energized.

Compact pin-within-a-sleeve three-way valve

A variable displacement high pressure pump having a plurality of high pressure pumping units which receive fuel from a low pressure fuel pump. A rotary cam-driven roller tappet, for producing pumping displacement of the pumping plunger of a respective pumping element, is connected to the pumping plunger by a separated link in a manner permitting the pumping plunger to float relative to the roller tappet during at least a portion of each pumping cycle. As a result, the capacity of the pumping chamber can be limited to an extent that is less than the full stroke achievable by the pumping plunger being retracted to the maximum extent which is permitted by the driving cam. In this way, the quantity of fuel to be pressurized and injected into the common rail does not have to be determined by a cutting-off of a spilling flow of excess metered fuel during the compression stroke of the pumping plunger, so that a low pressure solenoid valve can be used, in the case of time-stroke and time-pressure metering, and no solenoid is required to control metering in the case of pressure-time metering.

Variable displacement high pressure pump for fuel injection systems

A pressure balanced three-way solenoid valve including a valve housing having a valve chamber and a high pressure fluid supply passage, high pressure fluid outlet passage and drain passage communicating with the valve chamber is disclosed. A movable valve member is reciprocally received in the valve chamber so as to be reciprocated between first and second positions for selectively fluidically communicating the outlet passage with either the supply passage or drain passage. A first valve seat is formed in the valve housing and concentrically disposed in the valve chamber for fluidic communication between the outlet passage and drain passage and a second valve seat is concentrically disposed in a cavity formed in the movable valve member for sealing communication between the supply passage and outlet passages. A floating pin is received in the movable valve member cavity and communicates with the second valve seat for selectively fluidic communication between the supply passage and outlet passage with the floating pin including an impact absorbing element for absorbing the impact of the movable valve member when the movable valve member contacts the floating pin during de-energization of the solenoid. Transitional losses are readily controlled and a high initial closing velocity may be achieved while preventing closing bounce and thus the formation of any leakage path between the floating pin and movable valve member upon de-energization of the solenoid.

Force balanced three-way solenoid valve

A fuel injector which uses interchangeable subassemblies to allow the fuel injector to be converted from open to closed nozzle options without affecting engine installation, and without altering the timing or metering principles. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the fuel injector is comprised of two subassemblies, a first subassembly of which is a timing or control subassembly that is used in both the closed and open nozzle options, and which forms the top portion of the fuel injector. The second subassembly is a nozzle assembly and is form in two versions, an open nozzle version and a closed nozzle version, either of which can be used with the timing assembly. In a preferred form of the timing subassembly, a pressure-responsive valve for opening a timing chamber draining passage is provided within the upper plunger.

An aluminum rocker housing (10) is secured to the cylinder head (8) of an internal combustion engine (2) to surround and protect the cylinder valve assemblies (156, 158) and associated rocker arm mechanism. The front face (58) of the rocker housing (10) includes a recessed surface (68) which forms an air intake plenum (60) for receiving pressured air from the engine turbocharger (48). Air intake passageways (84, 86, 88) cast to the rear of the front face (58) communicate with the air intake plenum (60) and simultaneously register with air intake ports (160) formed in the cylinder head (8) to provide a means for distributing air from the air intake plenum (60) to the cylinders (16). A rocker cover (12) molded from plastic is secured to the rocker housing (10) by a plurality of vibration-damping bolt assemblies (13). The rocker cover (12) contains a drip lip (148) to prevent engine lubricants from coming into contact with the rocker cover gasket (14). The rocker cover (12) also includes a means (151) for engaging the gasket (14) to increase the sealing capacity thereof.

An interlock is disclosed for permitting only one of a plurality of interrelated valve elements to be operated at one time. A transverse channel is formed in each valve element for alignment with a channel formed in the valve housing when the valve elements are moved to their respective opened positions. When any one valve element is moved to its closed position, camming surfaces formed on the valve element are positioned and shaped to cause a train of end abutting links disposed within the valve and housing channels to be displaced in a manner to lock the remaining valves in their respective open positions. The valve channels and camming surfaces are formed by very simple and inexpensive linear cutting operations thereby allowing the disclosed device to be inexpensively manufactured.
