Well pumping of fluids having low hydrostatic pressure is provided through a combination of jet pumping and gas assisted lifting. A jet pump is located in a borehole in a producing zone of a well, and a source of gas is introduced into the fluid returning from the production location. The gas may be injected into the fluid used to operate the jet pump, such that the gas remains compressed until exiting the jet pump, and then provides assistance in lifting the returning fluid.

Artificial lift with additional gas assist

The present invention provides a hydraulically driven multiphase pump system and methods for pumping a fluidstream from the surface of a well. The hydraulically driven multiphase pump system consists of two vertically disposed plungers. The plungers are hydraulically controlled and actuated to work in alternate directions during a cycle using a closed loop hydraulic system. Each cycle is automatically re-indexed to assure volumetric balance in the circuits. An indexing circuit ensures that each plunger reaches its full extended position prior to the other plunger reaching its preset retracted position. A power saving circuit is used to transfer energy from the extending plunger to the retracting plunger. A trim circuit is used to ensure a proper fluid level in the indexing circuit and the power saving circuit. Additionally, a rapid reversal circuit may be employed to increase the rate of the two vertically disposed plungers.

Hydraulic multiphase pump

The present invention generally relates to an apparatus and method for removing hydrocarbons and other material from a wellbore. In one aspect, a method of drilling a sub-sea wellbore is provided. The method includes circulating a drilling fluid through a drill string from a surface of the sea to a drill bit in the wellbore. The method further includes pumping the fluid and drill cuttings from the sea floor to the surface with a multiphase pump having at least two plungers operating in a predetermined phase relationship. In another aspect, a fluid separator system having a first and a second plunger assembly is provided. The fluid separator system includes at least one fluid line for removing a fluid portion from the at least one plunger assembly and at least one gas line for removing gas from the first and a second plunger assembly.

Methods and apparatus for drilling with a multiphase pump

The present invention provides a hydraulically driven multiphase pump system and methods for pumping a fluidstream from the surface of a well. A method and device for transferring a multiphase flow to a predetermined location through a pipe. The multiphase flow is comprised of at least a liquid phase and a gas phase. The multiphase flow is provided to a flow divider that diverts a gas portion from the multiphase flow. A compressor and a pump are in fluid communication with the flow divider. The main gas portion is boosted by the compressor, and the residual liquid/gas portion is boosted by the pump. A recombination manifold then recombines the gas portion and the residual liquid portion. A single pipe receives the recombined multiphase flow and transfers it to a predetermined location.

System and method for handling multiphase flow

The present invention includes a method for multiphase metering of multiphase flow. the method begins with reducing gas volume to about 20% or less, then pumping the flow stream through two meters, a cut meter and a mass flow meter, arranged in series. Computations may be made on the flow stream to determine net oil rate, water cut, and gas fraction in the flow stream.
