An adaptor bracket for selectively coupling a manifold to a medical device has (i) a tab having a first end and a second end; and (ii) first and second gripping fingers extending from the second end of the tab. The first end of the tab is configured to be coupled to the medical device. The first and second gripping fingers are spaced so as to selectively receive a portion of a manifold within a groove formed between the first and second gripping fingers. The configuration of the bracket enables convenient manipulation of valves and ports on the manifold, such as when the practitioner desires to exchange tubing on the mounted manifold.

A waste collection system for receiving contaminated fluids in a manner which helps to prevent splashing of fluids or spilling them while they are being collected, thereby increasing protection to personnel, and which also keeps the fluids safely contained until ready for permanent disposal. In one presently preferred embodiment, the waste collection system includes a receptacle in which an absorbent pad is placed. The top of the receptacle is then sealed with a lid in an essentially fluid-tight fit. The surface of the lid is concave and slopes inwardly to a point at which an opening is formed, and a circular foam disc is placed at the opening. The foam material is provided with slits so that fluid can be introduced to the interior of the receptacle by either injecting a device such as a syringe through the slits or by permitting fluid to directly contact the foam material of the disc, which provides absorption and wicking action so that fluids will readily pass through the disc. Drainage channels are also formed on the surface of the lid, which is concave, for draining fluids that contact the surface of the lid quickly into the receptacle. A stabilizing support base with a non-skid surface receives and frictionally holds the container, and after fluids are contained, the support base can then be used by placing it onto the top of the receptacle and over the lid in a friction-tight seal so as to completely enclose the contaminated fluids within the receptacle, ready for permanent disposal.

A system and method for packaging devices having one or more coils of delicate tubing utilizing a peel-pouch package with a backing surface and a transparent cover sealingly adhered to form an envelope wherein the device and the coils of tubing are packaged. The packaging system provides for a single releasable interconnecting coil restraint that effectively binds the coils of tubing together such that any one particular coil is restrained from moving. The restraint has an end tab facilitating the release of the restraint such that the packaged coils can be quickly and easily removed and placed into use. The restrained coils of tubing are placed within a lining sheath prior to being placed within the envelope through the envelope opening in order to further protect the packaged system by rendering the envelope puncture resistant. A heat stake is applied to the packaged envelope at an opposite end from the envelope opening to effectively reduce the volume within the envelope so as to limit the movement of the contents therein. With such a packaging system and method, the individual tubes of the coils do not bend or kink and the coils remains free from tangling and intertwining during the rough treatment normally incident to worldwide shipping and handling.
