A cleaning apparatus having a housing, a battery, a motor, an output drive shaft and a movable cleaning section. The connection between the drive shaft and the cleaning section provides linear reciprocating motion of a portion of the cleaning section. In another embodiment orbital motion is provided. In another embodiment rotational motion and linear motion are provided. In another embodiment the user can switch between two types of motion.

A cleaning apparatus having a housing, a motor, a battery, and a removable cleaning attachment. The housing comprising a rigid subassembly shell and a resilient cover. The cover is injection molded onto the shell to waterproof a majority of the shell. The shell has raised portions on its exterior that are used to position the shell in the injection mold. After molding is completed, the cover surrounds the raised portions, but does not cover them.

A retractable leash includes an integral light. The apparatus has a first housing section and a retractable leash section. The first housing section has a handle, a light connected to top front portion of the first housing section and a receiving area. A rechargeable battery is removably connected to the first housing in the handle. The retractable leash section has a second housing section pivotably mounted to the first housing section, in the receiving area, and a reel rotatably mounted to the second housing section. A leash is connected to the reel for extension and retraction relative to the first housing section. In an alternate embodiment, a light is located on the leash and electrically connected to a conductor extending along the leash.

A hand held cleaning apparatus with a housing, a motor, and a cleaning attachment operably connected to the motor. The housing is sized and shaped to provide two primary hand holding positions. The housing has a handle section allowing a user to grasp the housing therearound and thereby provide the first hand holding position. The housing also has a head section with a top surface having a curve to be matingly received on a user's palm and thereby provide the second hand holding position.

A hand held tool having a housing, a motor, a removable battery, a tool attachment connected to the motor, and a battery cap connected to the housing. The battery cap is frictionally connected to a ledge of the housing at the entrance to a battery receiving area. The housing and the battery cap have mating edges with cooperating cam surfaces. Axial rotation of the battery cap on the ledge causes the battery cap to be cammed off of the ledge by the cam surfaces.

A vacuum apparatus having a housing, a vacuum generating system, and a hose. The housing has a small height and a general circular disk shape. A side perimeter of the housing has a hose receiving area that extends around a majority of the housing. The hose is located in the hose receiving area to both house the hose and use the hose as a bumper for the apparatus. The apparatus is configured to provide a maximum vacuuming pressure of only about 10 to 12 inches of water such that animals can be groomed without harming the animals. The vacuum generating system has a variable speed motor such that the motor speed can be adjusted by a user dependent upon the size or type of animal being groomed. The vacuum apparatus also has a noise reduction system including a muffler, an impeller with long fan blades, and multiple air flow path redirections of air traveling through the housing.
