Accessory for an electronic device

A support having a magnetically assisted deployment and retraction mechanism which is designed for use with protective covers for personal electronic devices such as smartphones and tablet computing devices featuring a segmented support structure that deploys from a first channel when a shuttle located in a second channel disposed under the first channel is moved from a first position to a second position. The shuttle contains a first magnet and a second magnet, and the segmented support contains magnets which generate either attractive or repulsive forces depending on the position of the shuttle, which forces cause deployment of the support.

Deployable support apparatus

Disclosed herein is a mount featuring one or more sets of embedded magnets which are designed to engage with complimentary sets of magnets disposed either in a protective case for use with the mount, or in a mobile device contained within such a protective case. The mount includes a pin which is magnetically actuated to extend into a hole disposed in the protective case when the case and the mount are brought within a prescribed distance. Thus, the case and the mount 'snap together' and are restrained from sliding relative to one another by the pin.

A protective cover and mount for a personal electronic device that is capable of using a wireless charging system comprising a wireless charger and a power cord having a plug. The protective cover features a cavity recessed into underlying structure. The cavity is shaped to accommodate the wireless charger, and the underlying structure is shaped so that power cords connected to the wireless charger can be conveniently managed.

A case for a mobile device includes a frame and an elastomeric shell. The elastomeric shell is received in the frame and has an outer surface, an inner surface opposite the outer surface and configured for receiving the mobile device, and a rim extending between the outer surface and the inner surface. The inner surface forms inner projections each having an inner extremity extending toward an inside of the elastomeric shell and each being configured for contact with the mobile device when arranged in the inner surface. The outer surface forms outer projections defining respective outer projection extremities and forms outer troughs extending between the outer projections and defining outer trough extremities. The outer projections extend toward a frame inner perimeter of the frame such that each of the outer trough extremities is spaced further from the frame than adjacent ones of the outer projection extremities.
