Tooling and corresponding tool assembly configurations equipped with exemplary designs of tracking assemblies configured to track information, such as use history, and perform a variety of processing and storage functions relative to the same for more efficient use and maintenance of the tooling over their lifetimes. The tracking assemblies can have retrofit-ready constructions.

Tool tracking and data collection assembly

A display device for punching and/or pressing machines. The display device can be constructed to be modular and of compact size so as to be positioned as desired on new and existing machine designs. The display device is formed with displays, which are configurable to provide a plurality of qualitative and quantitative information. The display device can be configured to be function with consoles of punching and pressing machines so as to be one or more of a supplemental device, an interfacing device, and an interactive device.

Tool holder designs are described. In some cases, the tool holder has a clamp assembly that can be used with tools having different tang styles. The tool holder in some cases has at least two differing tolerance areas provided therein, wherein the tolerance areas provide complementary tolerance to the design. In some cases, the tool holder can have a mechanically actuatable mechanism that functions with one or more internal components that limit adjustment of the mechanism to prevent damage to one or more of tool and the tool holder when securing the tool therein.

A tool holder for locating and seating varieties of differing tools. The tool holder is usable with press brake tools as well as tools for other industrial machines and equipment. The tool holder includes a clamp and a supporting body. The clamp is an assembly and, via collective operation of its components, functions with the supporting body to locate and seat tools of a variety of differing styles, sizes, and geometries.

Dynamic clamp and tool holders therefor

Press tool assemblies involve separable holder and tip portions. Self-seating structure is incorporated in these assemblies, and can stem from one or both of the separable portions of the assemblies. In use, the self-seating structure facilitates proper positioning and seating of the separable portions in relation to each other, and in some cases, can be used in operatively coupling the portions together. Advantages relating to assembly and disassembly of the tool assemblies, as well as improved structural properties result as a consequence of using the self-seating structure.

A press brake die holder for holding a press brake die having an upper, work-contacting portion and a lower, elongated tang. The die holder has an elongated body with a channel bounded by confronting walls, the channel being configured to receive the tang of the press brake die.

Press brake die holder technology

Press brake tool holders suitable for releasing and securing press brake tools. Provided in certain embodiments are a press brake tool holder and a press brake tool, in combination. Methods of using press brake tool holders are also provided. In some embodiments, the tool holder has a mechanism for tool seating, such as a mechanism adapted for moving a tool generally parallel to a pressing axis of the tool holder.

Press brake tool seating technology

Press brake tool holders suitable for holding press brake tools for punching and/or otherwise deforming workpieces, such as sheet metal. Provided in some embodiments is a press brake tool holder. Some embodiments provide the tool holder in combination with a press brake tool. Methods of using press brake tool holders are also provided. In certain embodiments, the tool holder has a tool-seating mechanism adapted for moving a tool parallel to a pressing axis of the tool holder.

The invention provides a press brake tool having a retractable safety key. In some embodiments, the tool includes a lock that can positively lock the safety key in an extended position. Different lock assemblies of this nature are provided. Also provided is a combination including a press brake tool and a tool holder. In some embodiments, the invention provides a press brake tool having a retractable safety key with an engagement portion having a tapered leading region (adapted to facilitate mounting the tool in a recess of a tool holder) and a tapered trailing region (adapted to facilitate dismounting the tool from the recess of the tool holder). Methods of use are also provided.

A press brake tool and tool holder. The tool has a body terminating downwardly in a workpiece-engaging surface and a tang extending upwardly from the body and adapted for reception in a tool holder, the tang having a first wall defining a vertical surface and a second wall on the opposite side of the tang having a recess formed therein having a contact surface. The tool holder has an opening therein for reception of the tool tang, a vertical surface engagable with the vertical surface of the tang, and a clamping pin movable transversely of the opening for clamping the tool in the holder. The pin has a camming surface configured to engage the contact surface of the tang in line contact to exert a force on the tang having vertical and horizontal components, the ratio of the vertical component to the horizontal component desirably changing as the clamping pin clamps against the contact surface of the tang.

Press brake tool and tool holder

The invention provides press brake and press brake tooling technology. Certain embodiments of the invention provide a press brake tool that has an elongated, retractable safety key. In certain embodiments, the invention provides click-in/slide-out press brake tools. In some of these embodiments, the tool has a safety key defining a flat (i.e., a planar wall section/planar surface) that is adapted for sliding along a surface of a tool holder when the tool is dismounted from the holder by moving the tool horizontally out of the holder. In certain embodiments, the flat has a longitudinal length of at least about 0.008 inch (in some cases, at least about 0.010 inch, at least about 0.015 inch, or at least about 0.020 inch), ranging up to the full longitudinal length of the tool. In certain embodiments, the invention provides a press brake tool and a tool holder in combination. Finally, the invention in some embodiments provides methods of press brake operation.

Press brake tooling technology

A press brake tool that is adapted to be mounted in a tool holder. The tool has a lockable safety key that is moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The press brake tool has a lock that is operatively coupled to the safety key and is movable between a locked position wherein the safety key is locked in the extended position and an unlocked position wherein the safety key is permitted to move between the extended position and the retracted position. Also provided is a press brake tool having a particularly advantageous, longitudinally-elongated safety key.
