A cooling assembly includes an evaporator containing a primary cooling medium, a passive condenser, and a heat exchanger. When a secondary cooling medium is provided to the heat exchanger, the primary cooling medium in the gas phase switches from being received by the passive condenser to the heat exchanger without operating any valves located between the evaporator and the passive condenser and between the evaporator and the heat exchanger. The primary cooling medium circulates between the evaporator and the passive condenser and between the evaporator and the heat exchanger by natural circulation and gravity without a pump in the flow path of the primary cooling medium between the heat exchanger and the evaporator and between the passive condenser and the evaporator to circulate the primary cooling medium.

Active/passive cooling system

A heat exchanger assembly, an indirect evaporative heat exchanger including the heat exchanger, and methods of operating the same. The heat exchanger assembly includes at least one tube, a plurality of sections, and a plurality of nozzles. The at least one tube is configured to (i) have a process fluid flow therethrough in a first direction and (ii) have a scavenger cooling medium flow over the outer surface of the tube in a second direction. The second direction intersects the first direction. The plurality of sections is aligned in the first direction. The plurality of nozzles are located above the at least one tube. At least one nozzle of the plurality of nozzles is (i) located in each of the plurality of sections and (ii) configured to selectively discharge coolant onto the portion of the tube in that section of the heat exchanger.

Staged spray indirect evaporative cooling system

A direct evaporative air handler for providing supply air to humidify and cool an enclosed space such as a data center. The air handler includes an evaporative cooler and a return air port that is positioned upstream of the evaporative cooler to allow recirculated air from the enclosed space to pass through the evaporative cooler. The air handler includes an additional return air port that is positioned downstream of the evaporative cooler to allow recirculated air from the enclosed space to bypass the evaporative cooler. The air handler includes an outdoor air port that is positioned upstream of the evaporative cooler to allow outdoor air to pass through the evaporative cooler and further includes an outdoor air bypass port that allows outdoor air to enter the air handler without passing through the evaporative cooler. The temperature and humidity of the supply air can be controlled under various ambient conditions by controlling the amount of air that enters the air handler through each port.

Direct evaporative air handler

Systems are provided for cooling data centers based on a cooperative system including a plurality of Indirect Air-Side Economizers, also referred to as Recirculation Air Cooling Units, that are advantageously operated in conjunction with one or more Side Stream Filtration Units or filters inclusive to a portion of the IASE/RACUs, and one or more Make-Up Air Dehumidification/Humidification Units for the introduction of ventilation air and control of humidity within the enclosed space. An objective of the systems according to this disclosure is to provide the necessary rejection of heat, removal of particulate from the air, and control of the absolute moisture content of the air within a data center.

Systems for removing heat from enclosed spaces with high internal heat generation

Methods are provided for cooling data centers based on a cooperative system including a plurality of Indirect Air-Side Economizers, also referred to as Recirculation Air Cooling Units, that are advantageously operated in conjunction with one or more Side Stream Filtration Units or filters inclusive to a portion of the IASE/RACUs, and one or more Make-Up Air Dehumidification/Humidification Units for the introduction of ventilation air and control of humidity within the enclosed space. An objective of the systems and methods according to this disclosure is to provide the necessary rejection of heat, removal of particulate from the air, and control of the absolute moisture content of the air within a data center.

Methods for removing heat from enclosed spaces with high internal heat generation

A ventilation device is provided for use in conjunction with systems and methods provided for cooling data centers. A Make-Up Air Dehumidification/Humidification Unit for the introduction of ventilation air and control of humidity within the enclosed space is provided to support other system components. An objective of the systems and methods according to this disclosure is to provide the necessary rejection of heat while providing a capability to limitedly add ventilation air and control of the absolute moisture content of the air within a data center.
