The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic network architecture that uses outside plant fan-out devices to distribute optical signals between fiber distribution hubs and multi-service terminals. The network architecture can also include collector boxes positioned at selected locations of the network architecture. Additionally, patching systems can be used in facilitating upgrading the capacity of the fiber optic network.

A base station system includes a central hub having a baseband controller and a backhaul connection to an external network and a plurality of remote units that are connected to the central hub by respective wired power and cabling connections, each remote unit including an associated drone unit that has an aerial drone and a radio unit mounted thereon. The radio units are operated under control of the baseband controller to form a super cell that appears as a single base station to the external network.

A protection block and method of use are disclosed. The protection block includes a rectangular housing having a front, a rear, and top, bottom, left, and right sides. The protection block also includes a plurality of sockets arranged in a two-dimensional array in the front of the housing, each of the plurality of sockets associated with two pairs of opposed, normally open contacts. Each of the plurality of sockets is arranged to receive an overvoltage protection plug that separately connects each of the two pairs of contacts. The protection block also includes a plurality of electrical connections in a second discrete region of the block separate from the first discrete region, the plurality of electrical connections electrically connected to the contacts. The protection block also includes a grounding bar associated with one or more of the sockets and positioned for electrical connection to a ground connection of an overvoltage protection plug when inserted into a socket.

A system and method for delivering digital subscriber line (DSL) service to a subscriber. In a telecommunications network, the signal passing through a protector field is diverted to a cross connect block that can be selectively configured to establish a communication route between the cross connect block and a splitter selectively receiving a DSL signal. The combined signal is then placed back upon the network by the cross connect block, which directs the combined signal back to the protector field.

System and method of providing DSL services on a telephone networks

A system and method for delivering digital subscriber line (DSL) service to a subscriber from a remote terminal of a telephone network. Included is a first route for delivering a telephone signal to the subscriber, and a second route for passing the telephone signal through a DSL system before delivering the signal to the subscriber. A disrupter is then used to selectively activate either the first or second route.

An enclosure used with a system for delivering broadband service, including standard telephone service and telephone/DSL service, to a subscriber. The system includes a pair gain system, a cross-connect system, and a service distribution system. The enclosure is a retro-fit enclosure that incorporates the service distribution system into an existing cross-connect enclosure in a cost-effective and aesthetic manner. The service distribution system is operably located such that the standard telephone service and telephone/DSL service are routed from the service distribution system to the subscriber without being routed through the cross-connect system. The service distribution systems include terminating modules and switching modules. In some embodiments, the switching modules include protector plugs that protect the system from over-voltages and/or over-currents, and provides upstream and downstream diagnostic testing.
