A polymer composite and its method of manufacture using a recycled multilayer material. An example of the recycled multilayer material is comprised of a polyethylene/polyethylene terephthalate/aluminum film that may be extruded with organic filler to obtain desirable performance in wood-substitute products such as deck boards, railing, fencing, pergolas, residential cladding/siding, sheet products, and other applications.

Use of recycled packaging in polymer composite products

A polymer composite and its method of manufacture using a recycled multilayer material. An example of the recycled multilayer material is comprised of a polyethylene/polyethylene terephthalate/aluminum film or polyethylene/nylon/aluminum film that may be extruded with organic filler to obtain desirable performance in wood-substitute products such as deck boards, railing, fencing, pergolas, residential cladding/siding, sheet products, and other applications.

A method of manufacturing a component comprised of a substrate layer and a cap layer. In one exemplary embodiment, multiple co-extruded wood composite components may be formed simultaneously. In another exemplary embodiment, a component may have a substrate layer comprised of cellulosic material. The cap layer may also include cellulosic filler and at least one streaker. The resulting component may serve a variety of different uses. For example, the component may be used in railing systems such as for decks, porches, fences, stairs, or other suitable applications.

A composite material and a related method of manufacturing a component. The composite material may be comprised of plastic material in an amount between about 60% and about 70% by weight, cellulosic material in an amount between about 20% and about 30% by weight, and glass material in an amount up to about 20% by weight. The composite material may be injection molded to form a component.

Fiberglass/cellulosic composite and method for molding

A post cap comprising a roof portion, at least one support member, and a wall portion. The roof portion is adapted to extend over a top portion of a post. The support member(s) extend from the roof portion to rest against the top portion of the post such that the roof portion is supported. The wall portion also extends from the roof portion. The wall portion is adapted to fit around the outside of the post. The post can be made by injection molding a synthetic wood composition.

A deck plank cover made from a plastic material, such as a wood composite, wherein the deck plank cover is designed to be affixed to the top surface of a preexisting deck plank. The deck plank cover is useful for repairing or protecting mildly deteriorated or deteriorating wooden deck planks of typical wooden decks. The deck plank cover may be affixed directly to the top surface of the existing wooden deck planks, and serves to substantially protect the wooden deck planks from further exposure to the elements. The deck plank cover of the present invention may also be applied to non-deteriorated wooden deck planks to prevent the onset of deterioration and to alleviate the need for treatment of the subjacent wooden deck planks with chemical preservatives. The deck plank cover preferably simulates the look of real wood, and may be produced in various cross-sectional shapes and sizes and from a variety of plastic materials.

The present invention is a cellulosic, inorganic-filled plastic composite. The composite includes about 30% to about 70% by weight of the composite of cellulosic material, about 1% to about 20% by weight of the composite of talc, and about 25% to about 40% by weight of the composite of polyethylene. An extruded article and a method of making the cellulosic, inorganic-filled plastic composite are also disclosed.
