An intelligent imaging device determines an occlusion of a shutter mechanism. The shutter mechanism opens to expose light to an image sensor, and the shutter mechanism closes to block the light from entering the image sensor. However, as the shutter mechanism transitions between full open and full close, the shutter mechanism is partially open and exposing the light to the image sensor. The image sensor continues generating images during these transitions, thus possibly revealing personal/sensitive data. The intelligent imaging device determines the shutter mechanism is partially open by conducting a real time, frame-by-frame content analysis. The intelligent imaging device may then disable an interface to the image sensor to avoid sharing personal/sensitive data. Even if the shutter mechanism is manually operated, the intelligent imaging device implements a visual/audible warning to warn a user that the shutter mechanism is not completely open or closed.

A key-press detection circuit for an information handling system includes a detector circuit, a RC circuit, and a latch circuit. The detector circuit is coupled to a keyboard matrix device, and operates to provides a clock signal in a first state when a particular key of the keyboard matrix device is pressed and to provide the clock signal in a second state when the particular key is not pressed. The RC circuit receives the clock signal and provides a timed clock signal in a third state for a predetermined amount of time in response to receiving the clock signal in the first state. After the predetermined amount of time, the RC circuit provides the timed clock signal in a fourth state. The latch circuit receives the timed clock signal at a clock input, receives a data signal at a data input, and latches an output signal in a same state as the data signal when the timed clock signal changes from the third state to the fourth state.

Methods and systems are provided that may be implemented to detect and capture information related to host system hang events which may occur during booted and in-band operation of an information handling system, e.g., for further analysis such as debugging. The disclosed methods and systems may be employed to monitor for behavior that is indicative of the occurrence of a host processing device system hang event that occurs while a host operating system is booted and running on the host processing device. Information regarding the nature and/or cause of a detected system hang event may be captured and stored for further analysis and/or for identifying a corrective action.

Methods and systems for detecting and capturing host system hang events

An information handling system pre-boot fault monitor tracks errors detected before boot of an operating system and stores the errors in persistent memory as error hashes generated from information associated with the error. Corrective actions associated with error hashes are determined by data mining error hashes provided from a population of deployed systems and stored in the persistent memory of the deployed systems. As the pre-boot fault monitor detects errors, a matching comparison between detected error hashes and stored corrective action hashes provides pre-boot instructions with corrective actions so that boot can be completed and the error managed with the operating system after POST.

Information handling system pre-boot fault management

In accordance with the present disclosure, a system and method are herein disclosed for providing in-service diagnostics based on health signatures of an information handling system. In one embodiment, the health of an information handling system is periodically probed by a software agent running as a service. The service polls a set of probes from interfaces on the host system and tracks parameters indicative of system and component health and performance. An analytics engine processes the data to identify anomalies and outliers, and to detect signatures that are precursors to potential service incidents. A rule set matches signatures to potential actions. Based on the detected signatures and rule sets, the service is operable to select, schedule, and execute one or more diagnostic tests. If an information handling system or component thereof fails a diagnostic test, the results are archived to persistent storage and communicated to an administrator.

System and method for in-service diagnostics based on health signatures

Methods and systems for performing diagnostic testing based on information handling system variables include receiving a first indication specifying diagnostic tests to be performed on an information handling system, receiving a second indication specifying diagnostic test conditions respectively associated with the diagnostic tests, receiving a third indication specifying health condition severity of the information handling system, and receiving a fourth indication specifying a user profile including user usage patterns. Based on the first indication, the second indication, the third indication, and the fourth indication, a schedule for executing diagnostic tests is generated.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may comprise identifying one or more portions of the memory having defects. The method may also include storing one or more addresses in the memory defect list, each of the one or more addresses associated with a portion of the one or more identified portions. The method may further include indicating to components of an information handling system that the one or more identified portions are unusable such that the other components are prevented from allocating and using the one or more identified portions.

Methods and systems for repairing memory

A method, device, and system including built-in self tests for a communication bus device is disclosed. In one form, a method of testing a device operable to be coupled to a communication port an information handling system includes accessing a configuration descriptor of a first device operable to be coupled to a communication bus of an information handling system. The method can also include detecting a self-test descriptor associated with the configuration descriptor and testing a portion of the first device using test information associated with the self-test descriptor. The device and system can include logic to perform the methods described herein.
