A bone repair system, kit and method for percutaneous repair of a bone segment containing a first bone segment and a second bone segment in a patient, each bone segment having a drill hole. The system comprises a longitudinal member configured to contact the first bone segment and the second bone segment and having at least one opening and cleats on the side adapted to contact the first bone segment and the second bone segment; a first fastener assembly configured to be disposed through the opening of the longitudinal member to hold the longitudinal member in place through the opening and the hole in the first bone segment; and a second fastener assembly configured to be disposed through the opening of the longitudinal member to hold the longitudinal member in place through the opening and the hole in the second bone segment.

Bone repair system, kit and method

A method for reconstruction of a resectioned portion of a bone includes connecting a first link to a second link through a flexible connection to form an elongated linkage that extends along a substantially longitudinal direction, providing a flexible connector configured to work in tandem with the flexible connection to adjust the first and second links relative to each other to adapt to a shape of the bone in at least one of a directional orientation about an axis that extends in the vertical direction and an angular orientation about an axis that extends in the longitudinal direction, and providing a locking member configured for insertion through the aperture, wherein the locking member is configured to apply a biasing force to the connector and inhibit adjustment of the at least one of the directional orientation and the angular orientation of the first link relative to the second link.

Reconstruction device

Expandable fixation assemblies, expandable cranial fixation assemblies, and expandable intervertebral implant assemblies are provided for securing structures to bone and for securing bones and/or bone segments with respect to each other. An expansion member can be moved through at least a portion of an expandable fixation body, thereby causing expansion of the expandable fixation body, such that bone engagement features of the expandable fixation body engage surrounding structure, such as bone.

Expandable fixation assemblies

A surgical fixation device is provided, including a preformed cranial mesh configured to generally conform to a predetermined averaged geometry. The cranial mesh includes a preformed flexible mesh body having opposed inner and outer surfaces, and a plurality of apertures that extend through the mesh body from the outer surface to the inner surface, each of the plurality of apertures extending along a respective central axis from the outer surface to the inner surface. The mesh body is configured as-manufactured to contact the predetermined averaged geometry at least at three spaced apart locations, such that 1) no portion of the mesh body crosses the predetermined averaged geometry in a first direction from the outer surface toward the inner surface, and 2) no location on the inner surface of the mesh body is spaced from the predetermined averaged geometry a distance greater than a select distance along the first direction.

Preformed cranial implant

A bone screw driving system includes a screw having a head and a shaft extending from the head. The screw includes a stepped opening extending in the shaft that includes a first portion and a second portion having a greater cross-sectional dimension than the first portion. The bone screw driving system further includes a screw driver having a driver shaft that defines a tip configured to engage the screw head. The driver further includes a pin extending from the tip and sized to fit within the opening. The pin includes an abutment movable to a locked configuration in the second portion of the opening, wherein the abutment defines a cross-sectional dimension greater than that of the first portion of the opening.

An orthopedic tissue spacer comprising a body portion having first and second ends, an outer surface and a longitudinal axis, at least one of the ends configured to engage a first bone segment, wherein at least a portion of the body portion is flexible and the outer surface is configured to resist tissue adhesion thereto.

Soft tissue spacer

A bone reconstruction device () is provided that includes an elongated linkage () having a plurality of links (). The reconstruction device further includes an adjustment assembly () that provides for adjustment of the directional and/or angular orientation of the links. The reconstruction device further includes a locking assembly () that is movable between a disengaged configuration and an engaged configuration. In the disengaged configuration, the adjustment assembly can be actuated to adjust the orientation of the links. In the engaged confirmation, the locking assembly inhibits adjustment of the orientation of the links.

The present invention relates to a transbuccal plate holding cannula used in osteofixation procedures. The transbuccal plate holding cannula of the present invention can be releasably secured to a bone plate such that tools and fasteners may be passed through the plate holding cannula in order to secure the bone plate to a bone.

Transbuccal plate holding cannula

A pair of forceps including first and second elongated members pivotally connected together. A handle and a head are defined at opposing ends of the first and second elongated members. In one preferred embodiment, a threaded cannula receiving chamber is disposed in the head, and the elongated members are separable via manipulation of the first and second elongated members with respect to each other.

A screwdriver having a retention mechanism for temporarily holding a screw in place on its tip while the screw is being positioned, rotated or removed. More particularly, a screwdriver with a cruciform head used in the installation and removal of bone screws during maxillofacial surgery.
