Embodiments provide a body pad having a protective layer mounted on a compressible substrate, for absorbing energy from impacts to the body of a user wearing the body pad. Embodiments may provide a chest protector including a chest pad having a protective layer mounted on a compressible substrate, for absorbing energy from impacts to a chest of a user wearing the chest protector.

Body pad

Embodiments provide a hand covering, such as a glove or mitten, with a retainer for holding the hand covering in a retaining configuration when not being worn covering the hand of a user. The hand covering may include a central hand portion, a finger receiving portion extending from the central hand portion, and a strap. The hand covering may extend generally in a longitudinal direction from a proximal side at the central hand portion to a distal side at the finger receiving portion. The central hand portion may define at the proximal side a cavity configured to receive a hand. The strap may be attached to an inside face of the central hand portion and extend generally lateral to the longitudinal direction. The strap may be separable from the inside face in between a first attached end and a second attached end to define a passageway configured to receive a hand.

Hand covering having a retainer element

A protective shin guard includes a floating knee section hingedly attached to a shin section, both sections being formed of one or more hard shell panels. The floating knee section is attached to the shin section by a main padding layer, and a liner is attached beneath the main padding layer. The liner includes an integral cut-resistant calf-sleeve attached along its bottom edge and extending downward. The cut-resistant calf-sleeve is an elastic tubular sleeve formed of a weave of elastic/cut-resistant fibers, e.g., Kevlar&#xae; and Spandex. The cut-resistant calf-sleeve is long enough to surround both the calf and the ankle. The cut-resistant calf-sleeve also provides a lower attachment feature that combines with an upper 360+ degree attachment strap to provide a better fit that will not shift or come loose during play.
