Disclosed embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for wound treatment. In certain embodiments, a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include a wound dressing with a spacer layer separated from the absorbent layer by intermediate layers or drapes. The wound dressing can include a first portion comprising a wound contact or tissue contact layer, a first spacer layer, and a first backing layer comprising a first aperture. The spacer layer can be positioned between the contact layer and the first backing layer. The dressing can have a second portion comprising an intermediate drape with a second aperture, an absorbent layer, and a second backing layer. The absorbent layer is positioned between the intermediate drape and the second backing layer. The first aperture and the second aperture are configured to be sealed and allow fluid communication between the first portion and the second portion of the wound dressing.

Negative pressure wound therapy apparatus

Apparatuses, methods, and systems disclosed within relate to a wound dressing, suitable for use in negative pressure wound therapy, which may include a body of porous material, the body of porous material including a plurality of cuts which provide regions of flexibility within the body. Methods of manufacturing and methods of use of such wound dressings may also be disclosed herein. In addition, the wound dressing can include a retaining mechanism removably coupled to the material and configured to retain the material in the expanded conformation.

Wound dressing

Apparatus for the application of topical negative pressure therapy to a wound site is described, the apparatus comprising: a wound contacting element for retaining wound exudate fluid therein; a wound covering element that provides a substantially airtight seal over the wound contacting element and wound site; a vacuum connection tube connecting a wound cavity to a vacuum source; and a vacuum source connected to a distal end of the vacuum connection tube.

Negative pressure wound treatment apparatus

A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing negative pressure at a wound site. The apparatus includes a suction pump for generating negative pressure, a negative pressure reservoir, a valve element arranged to selectively provide a fluid communication path between the reservoir and the wound site while a negative pressure in the negative pressure reservoir is greater than a threshold negative pressure, to thereby provide a desired negative pressure at the wound site, and wherein in response to a pressure in the negative pressure reservoir decreasing to the threshold negative pressure, the suction pump is operable to re-establish an initial negative pressure in the negative pressure reservoir.

Negative pressure device

A method and apparatus for providing negative pressure at a wound site. The apparatus includes a negative pressure reservoir and a reservoir valve for selectively connecting the reservoir to a wound chamber at a wound site. In particular, but not exclusively, the present invention relates to an apparatus including a source of negative pressure which acts as a negative pressure reservoir to continually or repeatedly 'top up' an applied negative pressure so that negative pressure applied at a wound site can be maintained within desired limits for a relatively long period of time.

An apparatus for cleansing wounds, in which wound exudate is removed from a wound bed and selectively cleansed and returned to the wound. The cleansing means removes materials deleterious to wound healing, and the cleansed fluid, still containing materials that are beneficial in promoting wound healing, is returned to the wound bed. Disclosed embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for wound treatment. In certain embodiments, a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include a spacer layer with an upper portion and a lower portion. The spacer layer can be configured to be wrapped around at least one edge of the absorbent layer with the upper portion of the spacer layer being above the absorbent layer and the lower portion of the spacer layer being below the absorbent layer. In some embodiments, a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include a first and second spacer layer and an absorbent layer. The first spacer layer can be positioned below the absorbent layer and the first spacer layer can have a perimeter larger than a perimeter of the absorbent layer. The second spacer layer can be positioned above the absorbent layer. The second spacer layer can have a perimeter larger than the perimeter of the absorbent layer.

An apparatus for cleansing wounds with means for stressing the wound bed and optionally tissue surrounding the wound, in which irrigant fluid from a reservoir connected to a conformable wound dressing and wound exudate from the dressing are recirculated by a devise for moving fluid through a flow path which passes through the dressing and a means for fluid cleansing and back to the dressing. The cleansing means (which may be a single-phase, e.g. micro-filtration, system or a two-phase, e.g. dialytic system) removes materials deleterious to wound healing, and the cleansed fluid, still containing materials that are beneficial in promoting wound healing, is returned to the wound bed. The means for stressing the wound bed and optionally tissue surrounding the wound promotes wound healing. The dressing and a method of treatment using the apparatus.

Wound cleansing apparatus with stress

According to certain embodiments, an apparatus for applying negative pressure to a wound can include a negative pressure source, a sensor, and a controller. The negative pressure source can be configured to couple via a fluid flow path to a wound dressing and provide negative pressure to the wound dressing. The sensor can be configured to monitor a magnitude or frequency of pressure in the fluid flow path generated by the negative pressure source. The controller can be configured to determine an activity classification, such as breathing, changing positions while lying, sitting, walking, standing, jumping, traversing stairs, leg extending, leg bending, and performing chair squats, based on a change in the magnitude of pressure over time while the negative pressure source maintains the magnitude of pressure in the fluid flow path below a negative pressure threshold. The controller can output an indication of the activity classification.
