The illustrative embodiments described herein provide an apparatus and method for facilitating tactile identification of a document attribute. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a document. The document has a set of document attributes. The apparatus also includes a fluid incorporated within the document at a designated location associated with a document attribute in the set of document attributes. The fluid changes rigidity in the presence of an electric field to facilitate tactile identification of the document attribute.

Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to distributed computing for large data sets on clusters of computers and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for detecting and correcting malicious nodes in a cloud computing environment (e.g., MapReduce computing). The method further can include applying a recovery action when the suspicion index exceeds the selected suspicion index threshold.

A method in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention includes: providing a GUI control having an entry field; and displaying indicia in the GUI control indicating whether the entry field of the GUI control is writable, wherein a user can visually determine from the indicia whether the entry field of the GUI control is writable before placing a cursor in the entry field.

An invention is disclosed for a programming method and system of implementing parameterization of data types and/or categories to convert an example 'instance' of using a software application into an actual product of program use by customizing the example to make it suitable for user needs. An apparatus and method for searching a database of web site functional characteristics to identify web sites that are compatible with designated functions are provided. With the apparatus and method, a database of functional characteristics is compiled and a search interface is provided. The database may be compiled in an automatic, manual, or semiautomatic manner by, for example, retrieving web site content with various functions of a web browser disabled and analyzing the resultant output through the web browser. With the search interface, a user may enter designations of the functional characteristics that the user is either interested in having or not having in the resultant list of web sites. Based on the user's designation of functional characteristics, the search engine associated with the search interface searches the database of web sites and identifies the web site entries in the database that are compatible with the designated functional characteristics. The search engine then provides a listing of these web site entries through a search output interface which may then be used by the user that requested the search.

A method, system and apparatus for collectively tracking a lost, misplaced or stolen personal article. The method can include distributing a multiplicity of tracking processors to corresponding subscribers in a personal article tracking community. An indication can be received from one of the subscribers in the community that a personal article having an RFID tag has fallen out of range of a tracking processor associated with the one of the subscribers. An identifier for the RFID tag can be forwarded to other subscribers in the community. Subsequently, notification can be received from at least one of the other subscribers that the RFID tag has been sensed in proximity to a tracking processor coupled to the at least one of the other subscribers.
