Organopolysiloxane gel products having a variety of physical forms and which produce a silky feel when applied to the skin are prepared by reacting an unsaturated organopolysiloxane resin, an Si&#x2014;H functional organosiloxane crosslinker bearing pendant hydrido functionality, a Cor higher unsaturated hydrocarbon, and optionally, an unsaturated hydrophile component. Products ranging from viscous liquids, creamy gels, pastes, and soft powders may be obtained. The products are highly useful in formulating cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.

Alkyl group-substituted organopolysiloxane gels

Soft, creamy translucent and transparent gels suitable for use in cosmetic applications may be prepared by hydrosilylating an unsaturated MQ resin or its equivalent with an Si&mdash;H functional organopolysiloxane cross-linker having Si&mdash;H functionality along its polysiloxane backbone, in the presence of a low viscosity and preferably volatile organopolysiloxanes. The stable gels obtained may be converted to creamy gels of a wide range of consistency by simple shearing. Gel firmness can be maintained through addition of a catalyst inhibitor to the gel formulation.

Organopolysiloxane gels for use in cosmetics

Organopolysiloxane gels containing gel-bound hydrophillic groups are prepared by reacting a hydrosilylatable unsaturated organopolysiloxane resin, a crosslinker bearing Si&mdash;H bound hydrogen, and a hydrosilylatable unsaturated hydrophile, in the presence of an effective amount of a hydrosilylation catalyst, at least a portion of the reaction taking place in the presence of at least 60 weight percent of an oleaginous composition containing at least 50 weight percent low viscosity organopolysiloxane. When sheared, the crosslinked organosiloxane compositions form a stable, preferably incompatible gel which may be used in turn to form a stable emulsion with large amounts of ordinarily incompatible hydrophillic liquids. The emulsions thus formed are suitable for use in a wide variety of cosmetic products.

An organopolysiloxane adhesive contains an organopolysiloxane rubber base, an organopolysiloxane pressure sensitive adhesive, a aliphatic unsaturated-functional M&prime;Q resin, and a polyhydrido-functional organopolysiloxane in an organic solvent, and exhibits differential adhesion between dental impression material and dental impression tray material.

Dental adhesive and use thereof in preparing dental impression

Gloss and ease of application of sprayable aqueous organopolysiloxane vinyl protectant emulsions are both improved by the addition of a gloss-improving additive. Protectants may be formulated to achieve higher gloss with the same amount of active organopolysiloxane or the same or higher gloss with less organopolysiloxane. Preferred gloss-improving additives are water soluble organic viscosifiers and/or minor amounts of inorganic, viscosity-increasing particulate solids.
